to not have lots of new threads merged with very old ones?
I've given up on posting there now because its so frustrating. Some things in 2009 arent relevant to 2004 and bear no relation to each other, yet threads are merged because they have a faint link.
I've not noticed this on any other MSE forum. I've noticed a few others complain about this too.

I totally agree with this - drives me insane. When threads are always merged if they are on the same topic the thread also becomes far too long to read and puts me off. It's not paranoia if they really are after you.0

me too.
If i ask a question about a bread maker say, i really don't want it thrown in the soup of 400 other questions about bread makers.
An over zealous board guide trying to be too helpful? OS has reached a point where pretty much everything has been asked at some point in the past and while the search is of course useful it's often nice to ask the question yourself and get a personal response rather than dragging up a 1000 post long 3 year old thread.
Perhaps it's time to review the policies on that particular board. Am i right in thinking it's the biggest board on the site. Maybe it needs splitting up a bit. Perhaps a section on recipies, one on homekeeping, one on quick tips etc. However not to dilute the board too much.Hi, we’ve had to remove your signature. I love looking at stats, you can see how many threads and posts each board has on the front page on the right hand side and the most popular threads are posted by MSE Statsman on this board...
