"Whoopsies" - do you grab them all or leave some for someone else?

Just wondered if anyone else feels they can't take all the reduced items on show if there aren't that many, like in my local Co-op. There was some mince down to half price the other day, about 6 half pound packs which I did take, but felt really greedy when I got to the till and apologised!

Cant really answer - as I only shop for one and the whoopsies I come across rarely fit into the way I eat (vegetarian, etc). But - thinking of the odd times when something I want is there and in quantity - as far as I recall - I just take one or two items. I would only reckon on stocking-up if it was right at the end of their display time (end of day or whatever) - in which case I'd then think "They're only going to be binned anyway at this time - so I might as well take however many I want".
I'm a bulk-buyer when I come across something basic at a "standard" price thats cheaper than normal. I have noticed, for instance, that my supermarket puts the prices of canned tomatoes up, then down again, then up - so I only buy a can if I have to when they are at the higher price. However, if they are on the shelf at their lower price out of their "pricing range" - then I'll buy as many as I can.0 -
I work at a supermarket, and I couldn't care less if you had 20 reduced items at my till, and a lot of people do. In fact a lot of staff do (although some of those might be staff only reductions).
From a consumer point of view, it only takes one person who shotguns a tonne of reduced items to ruin it for those who'll just take one or two "to be polite", so you might as well take what you want.0 -
Hi, Martin’s asked me to post this in these circumstances: I’ve asked Board Guides to move threads if they’ll receive a better response elsewhere (please see this rule) so this post/thread has been moved to another board, where it should get more replies. If you have any questions about this policy please email !!!!!!.:rudolf: Sheep, pigs, hens and bees on our Teesdale smallholding :rudolf:0

Hi, I work in a supermarket, and doing the end of day reductions is one of my jobs to do. It doesn't matter if one person buys 20 things or 20 people buy 1 thing-the aim is to get it sold! It's when people stand there as I am doing it and practically snatch every item from me as i've done it, while there are others waiting politley-1 man one time took EVERY bit of meat that I reduced-joints, chops etc and he had a basket full, while other people were waiting. The staff will take stuff thats reduced, but don't take all of it-if there is some chicken that could go inthe freezer, then i'll take 1 or 2 but I personally like to give everyone a chance to get something-especially when the oap's come in for it, or the single mums. But really as long as it's sold then it doesn't matter who to-the person on the till mught be cursing though, having to peel the sticker off the barcode to scan it then having to price over-ride all the items lol! :rotfl:0

Whoopsies? I thought that this was a thread about collecting horse muck in the street!0

If there is more than 1 of something generally I will still only take 1 or 2, partly cos I don't want my freezer full of the same thing and partly because I think it is nice to share!Ermutigung wirkt immer besser als Verurteilung.

I know what you mean about feeling mean if you take it all.... but does anyone else mind really?xXx-Sukysue-xXx0

I'll usually buy what I can use and store/freeze. If there are other people around who are interested in what I'm buying I'll usually ask if they want some before I take my share...it's nice to be nice
. However if no-one else is around then I'll take what I can use or freeze.. Must learn not to count chickens before they are hatched!!!!:D
Every day is a new challenge not a new problem!:p
