Mothers Day Ideas

I'm looking for new and fresh ideas for things to make with my class of 10 and 11 year olds to make for mothers day.
Obviously it has to be something cheap but meaningful. I try to do something different each year and have already made personalised mugs, aprons, mothers day helping hands, cheques etc.
Any suggestions would be a big help

We are going to decoupage flowerpots, not too large, then we will plant something and bring them on a bit before going home could be herbs, flower bulbs or seeds.0

How about a calender with the photos of the child in each month.
Paper flowers old but still are fun to make and delightful to give,Or if its not to late how about planting a bulb in little pots that they can decorate or put a photo on with the bulb in as it grows it will give pleasure to the mum and child.
Or maybe a personalised coaster.
Good luck with it please let me know what you decide on,Nice to see some teachers really take an active interest.Lucky No27

A coaster or tablemat is a nice idea as it is something that can be kept. My children have made these at school in the past and I still have them. Get the children to draw pictures with a mothers day message and then laminate them for them.0

what about embroidering a cheap tea-towel, hankie or flannel? It wouldn't have to be too difficult - perhaps an outline of a heart with the date or the words 'I Love You Mum'

I expect it's just me,but I get a bit fed up with stuff you have to keep because the kids have made it! Cards are fine as you can 'put them away' after a few days.My vote is for something consumable - decorated biscuits or little cakes.
Sorry I'm just not sentimental about this sort of stuff,I know other mums love it,I find it collects dust0 -
Small flower pot, bulb/s & potting compost. Decorate the pot if so desired but personally, at 31 I have pretty much grown out of it:rolleyes:Post Natal Depression is the worst part of giving birth:p
In England we have Mothering Sunday & Father Christmas, Mothers day & Santa Clause are American merchandising tricks:mad: Demonstrate pride in your heirtage by getting it right please people!0 -
This is probably not what you're looking for as I got them when my children were a bit younger than your class, but here are a couple of poems I've had in Mother's day cards made in school. They always included a handprint of my childrens hands and they never failed to bring a tear to my eye.
There used to be so many
of my fingerprints to see,
on furniture and walls and things
from grubby sticky me.
So here's a small reminder
to keep, not wipe away,
of tiny hands and how they looked
to make you smile some day.
Sometimes you get discouraged
because I am so small
and always leave my fingerprints
on furniture and walls.
But every day I'm growing-
I'll be grown right up some day
and all those tiny handprints
will surely fade away.
So here's a little handprint
just so you can recall
exactly how my fingers looked
when I was rather small.0 -

Me too - I have a regular clear out - but I've always done it so the kids don't find it strange. What about some peppermint creams or marzipan fruits (if you colour the marzipan 1st) - we've done these successfully with Beavers and Cubs and then get them to make a gift box or bag and decorate it“the princess jumped from the tower & she learned that she could fly all along. she never needed those wings.”
