Things to do in Bristol

Hello All,
I'm off to Bristol on the 17th March for one night, and wondered where the best places to go are? Preferably things which are on the less expensive side, as I'm a student. I'm going with my boyfriend so any places to get dinner for a reasonable price, or places to go during the day would be well received!
I got a room for a bargain £59 at the Novotel in the city centre, just wondered if anyone has stayed there and if it's ok?
Thanks guys!
Amy

I am sorry to be anti...but go somewhere else! Bristol is a dump, also be very very careful where you go. Stay with the crowds don't wander off. Seriously, go to Bath or somewhere.
Sorry!!!

I love Bristol! Having said that, the revellers get pretty lairy. I wouldn't want to be near Evolution on a Saturday night.
Hopefully someone will come up with some nice ideas for places to visit - really it depends on what kind of thing you like.0 -

Lol just for the record we're going to Bristol for an interview for some gap year work, rather than as a holiday! Is Bristol really that bad?!

Depends where in Bristol you are. I use to live at longwell green which is classed as Bristol. But you would never know it. It is really nice and quiet and close to the country side. And about 8 miles from Bath.
Like any town it has it bad parts.
There is the hippodrome theatre in town. Not sure what they are showing.
Personally I would not hit the centre of town on a friday or saturday night to late. As there are to many clubs and pubs and to many drunk people.

Hmmm..all the people in Bristol must be out enjoying themselves!!
Do not let the negatives here put you off, Bristol is a fascinating place, like all cities it has good and bad. When I visit I like to stroll around the "floating harbour" plenty of shops, bars, restaraunts, galleries etc or the market between Corn St and St Nicholas Street. (either are not far from where you're staying). For stuff unique to Bristol try the Industrial Museum (free entry) and the SS Great Britain -try the harbour ferry to get around. At night you could do worse than starting at one of the many bars in King Street and work on from there!
Use "google maps" to find these locations, the Novatel is in Victoria Street (used to be a Holiday Inn I think).0
