    Get real!!!!

It's a packaging mistake. Accept a double refund an get on with your life.

Red meat will soon be in demand for being much safer than H5N1 flu-infested poultry!!!

Very harsh with that comment, like newmum1 comment - to get this wrong can be very grave for the store and supplier(s) (if one or more make the same product). If the OP had an allergy with something used in the offending product - then Asda can have a lawsuit on their case and the suppliers would have to provide paperwork that the product at the time wasn't packed in the wrapper.

Auditors will fine-toothcomb all paperwork to find out what went wrong unless the supplier hold their hands up and say that they made a mistake to Asda. If they admit the mistake then Adsa will fine them (this takes into account the costs of Admin on Asda sides and the costs of Gift Vouchers/lost sales of the customer in question).

Now, go and read the book "Not on the label" and you will find that "most" of food production done in the UK have people working for them whom are EU nationals mainly like Poles and the eastern EU states. I am thinking of a mistake and no I have nothing against our EU friends working in these factorys. But with mistakes like these becoming more and more common I am glad that I am going over to make your own meals from the start and slowly going to Organic.

Alan, if I was you, get the product sealed in a airtight bag and put in the fridge with the wrapper. Write a letter to Head Office asap to cut out the red tape from the store to HO and CC a copy to your local store where you brought it from. And see what they say to you complait (send it recorded to show how urgent it is)

What do EU nationals working in the factory have to do with a mislabelling issues:confused:. Most other European countries actually have a higher command of the rules of written English than we do & I would hate to compare the standard of English of an random British teenager with another teenager who has been learning it as a foreign language from say the Netherlands.

I'm also not sure why the need to duplicate the complaint - take it in to the shop & speak to them there. If, and only if they are unreasonable, then should you be looking to take it further. Until then, relax and get it into proportion.

  • A few years ago I had a similar complaint.
Bought a vegetarian pasty and it was a chicken one in the wrong packaging (This is one of the pasties that was baked and packed instore). As the girlfriend is a vegetarian she wasn't best pleased. We complained to head office and got a letter of apology saying that the two pasties look very similar and someone must have got mixed up instore. I'm not sure what compensation we got, may have been 5 pounds or so. They ended up withdrawing from sale the vegetarian ones after that, rather than changing the look of them.

  • It'll be referred to HO there & then by CS, or should be.

Diva, I am not slaging them down, but when you work in the enviroment I work in then you will understand. Some don't even understand english at all (old russian states) thats where mistakes are made.

I have seen these in many cases for the firms I worked for in food production industry. And you won't find French/Germans/Dutch people working in these factories who have better English understanding than the hoodies in the local shopping centres, its the far eastern members who are working here (low wages countries)

come on thats a bit harsh aint it if he doesnt eat red meat then i think that it is very serious what if it was an allegery or something it should not be allowed to happen

Maybe, but the OPs entire angle was "HOW MUCH COMPENSATION AM I DUE" and he didn't say he was seriously ill and writing from his hospital bed.

    !!!!!! some people.

Last week I bought and drank a PJ Smoothie, which was "Orange, Apple and Passion Fruit". Imagine my disgust after drinking it, to find that it contained banana on the list of ingredients. How much compensation am I due?

Also, a note to the uninformed. If you don't "do" red meat, avoid wines which don't say "suitable for vegetarians" on the label. These have been clarified using beef products, but you won't find that on the label.

You can't claim compensation for what might of happened, if (s)he had an allergy.

You can only claim for what actually happened. If it's a simple case of dislike of red meat, all you would expect is a replacement product and/or refund, and possibly a few pounds on a giftcard.

If the OP goes in and shouts a bit as they have said they will do, I can't see Asda being very helpful to be honest.
Here I go again on my own....
  • this thread seems to have digressed somewhat, and lost the original sense of what the op was asking.

in answer to the original question asdas policy is generally 200% refund and a token gesture of GBP 2.00 on a gift card, along with a sincere apology from CSR.

This will then be passed up to HO for them to investigate further.

    Thats the question answered..

Regarding further comments that have been made, all I can say is how I am amazed how people still like to pigeonhole other people into stereotypes :)

  • Good call BamBam, the original post wasn't meant to sound like I was just seeking monetary compensation, that was never the case.

Cheers everyone for all the good replies I have received, it's good to be able to quiz people such as yourselves on this subject.

However I have no time for the people who have left rude replies, does this help anybody?!
