Asda Extra Special Chicken Pastry (It is beef!)

Hi guys, don't know if I've put this in the correct thread but mods please feel free to move it anywhere.
Went into Asda today and bought an Extra Special chicken and vegetable pasty. It turned out to be extra special as well! Biting into it I found that it was actually beef with onions and bits of potato. Not good when I don't eat red meat.
Now I've still got it here and I'm going to take it in and shout a bit tomorrow. But what sort of things do you reckon I should say or do? And what am I likely to receive as compensation, in your experience?
Thanks for letting me pick your brains in advance!

Whenever I have had a problem with Asda the least I have received is 200% of the cost of the item I have complained about. I think you will probably will have to get the store manager involved if you want more than that, but then its always worth a try. I would reinforce how you do not eat red meat & how disgusted you were to bite into a piece of beef.
Good luck0 -
Why do we all seem to be seeking compensation, an apology and replacement should do fine. Also i would be seeking an assurance that this would be pushed higher up the food chain than the store manager. If I didn't eat red meat i would be more concerned that asda would get to the bottom of this with the supplier, than seeking to ask advice on what compensation you may be up for.:coffee:0

i'm sorry, but if i ate chicken/fish i would be SERIOUSLY ill. asda owe you a duty of care, take it all the way.The word is BOUGHT, not BROUGHT.
It's LOSE, NOT LOOSE.

Thats my general feeling on it, it's not a little mistake, it's a mammoth one.
Cheers for the constructive replies so far.0 -
have to say, i agree with grex9101 on this one, although there IS a small contingency of people who feel that compensation etc is always the way to go, in this case I think it would be justified - (had it been a nut product and you were allergic to nuts it could have killed you).
Definately go higher than your local store manager - go for area manager or head office.....
Best of luck with this - as for what to say, mention the points on here about allergies etc, please come back and post up ho you get on,

i actually remember a few instances like this happening when i used to work at a supermarket...
two cases of chilled meals came in with mixed up sleeves-one was a chicken/bacon pasta, the other was a vegetarian pasta - very difficult to tell the difference between..
a couple of customers came back to complain (out of a possible 12), all i did was refund them and get them to fill out a complaints form.
one of the customers came back a few weeks later to do her shopping and paid with a fair number of gift vouchers that she had received from head office...
of course, your issue isn't regarding getting big bucks off asda, but it certainly is worth taking it further, AND maybe they'll even investigate it with their supplier.
good luck with it and let us know! The word is BOUGHT, not BROUGHT.

It's a packaging mistake. Accept a double refund an get on with your life.
Red meat will soon be in demand for being much safer than H5N1 flu-infested poultry!!!British Ex-pat in British Columbia!0 -

come on thats a bit harsh aint it if he doesnt eat red meat then i think that it is very serious what if it was an allegery or something it should not be allowed to happen0 -
I work for Asda CS & have to say I don't see the need to be contacting the area manager etc. What the CS person should do is fill out a complaints form & contact head office with you there anyway, they will then investigate & get back to the customer. If it's an Asda product we would refund & replace or double refund & i'd automatically give a giftcard as goodwill. It's no wonder CS people sometimes don't even feel like helping, you're saying you'd go in shouting at the CS colleague, why?? It's not their fault & i'm sure with a decent attitude they'll be more than happy to try to help you. We're only human & can imagine how it would feel if it'd been us in your situation, so please give them chance to do their job.0
