Apparently the money is still there etc just that he isnt able to get at it.
Does anyone know how he would be able to withdraw it and what steps he should be taking?
    Where is the money?

What's the name of the bank?

Which country is the bank in?

    Why can't it be withdrawn?

Answering some of these questions may help others to give you an answer.

All we've established so far is that it isn't on the Isle of Wight, the Isle of Sheppey or the Isle of Dogs!

Perhaps the money is in Treasure Island. That would be difficult to access ... without a map!

Possibly Barclays got the Isle of Wight mixed up with the other dodgy island states that they use for tax [STRIKE]evasion[/STRIKE] avoidance.;)

....Would love it sorted out cos he has offered to pay off our debts once he has access to it :p

Have you thought the story might be a smokescreen from your father in law just so that he doesn't have to pay your debts?

No, we never asked him to pay it off at all. He needs the money for himself as well as he put the money he got from selling his house in there before he went to Libya to teach for 2 years.

Spoke to OH and he thinks it might be the Isle of Man.

Don't want to ask FIL anymore questions about it because it is his money at the end of the day ya know nad I don't want to seem as though I am pushing for it and certainly ain't counting on it in anyway.
I know I must be coming off as seeing this as an escape route for myself and OH but it seems really unfair to have tens of thousands sitting there doing nothing!

If it is one of the Icelandic banks' subsidiary branches, the likelihood is that it's not sitting there at all.....
