Isle Of Wight bank account/

My FIL was at the pub with us the other night and mentioned how he had put a load of money into an Isle Of Wight bank account and now apparently is unable to withdraw/transfer/do anything with it because of something to do with the government?
Anyone have any idea what he is on about?
Would love it sorted out cos he has offered to pay off our debts once he has access to it

The Barclays branch on the Isle of Wight burnt down last year, and they operated the branch out of the local pub while the refit was occurring. Unfortunately, they already had a branch manager, otherwise I would have gone back to retail banking.
Anyway, as said, no way is this an Isle of Wight issue - the IoW is a regular county and returns an MP to Westminster. They're the same tax wise etc. as the mainland. What would William Shatner do?0 -
I think someone's getting muddled with the Isle of Man!0

Yeah, I didn't think there were any issues but he has mentioned a few times it was Isle Of Wight!0

Apparently the money is still there etc just that he isnt able to get at it.
Does anyone know how he would be able to withdraw it and what steps he should be taking?0
