    Hello spookey and welcome. Perhaps one of the techno whizzkid DFWs could shift this to a thread of its own so we can give it individual attention?

  • Just jumping on the bandwagon, as I'm new to these forums, and not quite sure how it all works;

    Quite easy. There's a button top of this forum says 'New Thread'. Always better starting your own, not barging in on someone elses. Just confuses it for everyone and the OP let alone yourself.
    Any help, opinions, views I may hold those are my own. Respect them as you would expect the same in return. Offered freely, is gleaned from a lifetime of experiences, knowledge gaining. Passed on to benefit others. I may be direct, ask you questions but those are to help you. Up to you if you choose to take it. I won't judge you either way.
  • Aha - will havew a go at a new thread then - thanks

    have a look on the National Debt Line site, they have template letters you can send to the cc compaines asking them to accept a token or no payment as you are out of work. It also asked them to freeze the interest.

  • thanks scaredy_cat
    don't know where i got 27 for tv license from (need more coffee lol), i am actually paying £11.95 per month

    the reason for my massive electric bills is due to the large collection of reptiles me and my partner had and they have been left in my care now she's gone

    i have already written to cc explaining my situation and requesting that they freeze the cards and that we come to some sort of arrangement - however they don't seem to be taking much notice so im putting together another letter to send

    Your situation is not sustainable.

    Any way you can get a house share, go back to the folks for a bit. At least until you are over 25. Sorry but the current regs on younger adults are punative - thanks maggie.

    Hi, i'm looking for a bit of advice if someone can help. I've been given the wonderful task of helping the mother in law with her problems. Can't do IVA - not enough spare cash so have been advised to do reduced mortgage payments and pay £1 to creditors for the time being. The house is up for sale and will be approx £10k in negative equity with the penalty of the mortgage. My question is... how can we cancel the direct debits? She went in to her bank yesterday - Hal - and was told she could not cancel them - it's up to the creditor. The letters were sent yesterday advising the change in payments but they can still take the full amount if they have the DD's?I hope i'm right in the last bit. We are taking the mortgage don from 750 per month to 300 and by the way hal have said unless the mortgage company agree e're stuck. Changing bank accounts on wed but the mortgage payment goes out on the first so i want the payment changed to lower amount prior to that. Any suggestions?

    admittedly i don't know about the rest of the stuff with the mortgage and IVA ect. but cannot understand why the bank will not let you cancel DD's. the second my partner left me without any money at all was also (surprise surprise) just before all DD's were due out of my account. i telephoned the bank rather than the creditors because i knew they wouldn't have time to cancel them from their end. the bank however could cancel them with immediate effect and did so straight away with no quibble.
