Really lovely - I didn't have any cocoa powder so I used Ovaltine Instant. My strangest and oldest cat fought me to get one of them and munched it happily :)
The ability of skinny old ladies to carry huge loads is phenomenal. An ant can carry one hundred times its own weight, but there is no known limit to the lifting power of the average tiny eighty-year-old Spanish peasant grandmother.

I am making some batches of brownies, as i need to use up some weetabix and was wondering if i can freeze some. If so how do i do it? How long can they be frozen for and how long to thaw out etc? Also i know they say about brownies are best eaten the next day so would i freeze them the next day?
    Thanks

I used to work for a high street coffee chain, and the brownies they sell are supplied by another company, which bakes them, freezes them, then delivers them as they're thawing. I'd reckon freeze them on the day of baking, on the baking tray (so they don't stick together) then once they're completely frozen, transfer to a bag or something, and use within 2 months. Defrost at room temp overnight. Be very careful if you try to microwave them - the sugar content means they scorch easily!

I'm sure you could add nuts to these, no reason why not. I had some left covered on plate last night but this morning there were just crumbs left,Oh likes them too then:rotfl:

    In a bowl put
    4 crushed weetabix
    4oz caster sugar
    4oz self raising flour
    2 tbsp cocoa powder
pkt chocolate drops (i use a 25p 100g tescos own milk chocolate chopped up)

    mix this altogether

then take 4oz of melted marg and stir this into the mixture along with an egg

mix well and put in a baking tray and bake for 15 minutes at electric 180.
I've just made these and they're yummy. I had to use Lidl wheat bisks and demara sugar instead though as I didn't have the right ingredients in.

It also turns out I didn't have many of the other ingredients in which I only discovered half way through :D. Had to substitute the egg for 3 tbsps milk and the chocolate drops for raisins. They taste gorgeous though :j

I made these today using plain chocolate, they are gorgeous but very very rich. My mix came out very dry, i think I should have added a little milk to it. Mine had a slight crunch, is this how everyone elses turned out? They taste yum but I think I need to have a wetter mix next time.

  • Do you think you could use some of those mini weetabix with chocolate chips/fruit and nut/banana in?
