I would suggest you forget supermarkets altogether! I regularly buy chicken from my local butchers. The chicken is all free range, organic and sourced from within a few miles of the shop.
The chicken breasts work out at about £6.60 a kilo which is a bargain price for the quality of meat that you are getting and isn't actually that much more than the cheap supermarket stuff. It actually tastes nice whereas the cheap supermarket stuff is horrible.0 -
Is there a butchers near you? I go to my local butchers and get 10 100% chicken breast for about £9.50
I also buy pork, sausages, and steaks and save 50% on what it would've cost in the supermarket.0 -
The fresh Turkey steaks from MORRISONS are superb!...and half the price of chicken. We always buy them now, as the chicken breasts have rocketed up in price, and they also do them with flavoured breadcrumbs on em. Dont think there is any added water to them either! Avoid the diced turkey thigh though...its like DOG FOOD!Profit=sanity
Turnover=vanity
Greed=inhumanity:dance:0 -
I have recently bought a chest freezer and get a lot of my meat - including chicken breasts - from Iceland. The trick is to go first thing on a morning and all the meat that has that days date on it is half price - so you get 4 chicken breasts for £1.50 (if i remember rightly).0

They are still cheaper than lakelands 600g half price offer in tesco which is £3 but 50g less! Great.
I heard you can get even bigger bags 1.3kg in Iceland too.
Lots of offers on tuna at the moment too.
Im after cheap protein sardines, cottage cheese, tuna, salmon and chicken.
Thanks again.
Are you bodybuilding? How many grams of protein per kilogram bodyweight are you consuming daily? If you are interested in sports nutrition textbooks, "Power Eating" (Kleiner) and "Nutrient Timing" (Ivy & Portman) may give you a different perspective.Declutterbug-in-progress.⭐️⭐️⭐️ ⭐️⭐️0 -

I aren't bodybuilding but since i lost all the weight I needed too Im just aiming to maintainin my current shape.
Protein keeps you fuller longer than fats and carbs, apparently you burn more calories consuming it and ermm I forget the other reasons Im trying to eat protein with each meal.0 -

:eek: Skinning a chicken breast takes a max of fifteen seconds and requires no tools.
Just how lazy are you?0 -

That's all true, but IIRC if you consume more than 2g of protein per kg bodyweight your body simply converts the excess to energy. High protein diets are a very expensive way to get to get your carbs! Little and often is the key, based on a sold body of research.Declutterbug-in-progress.⭐️⭐️⭐️ ⭐️⭐️0
