Sainsburys have an offer on at the moment which makes their decent chicken breast fillets cheaper than their basics, they're £5 at the moment. Four in a pack!
Other than that have you tried Tesco value frozen fillets they're good as long as you don't mind irregular sizing!0 -

Aldi have frozen chicken breasts (no added carp) for £3.99 - it's 800g usually, but there is 20% extra so 900g IIRC - not bad.
Lidl do frozen chicken breasts too on the bone, but they are easy to remove when defrosted (again no added carp). These were £3.99 for 1.2 or 1.5 kg (I forget), but not had them for a few weeks so might be dearer.
The lakeland fillets you mentioned OP, they had added water and salt and stuff did they not?I'm sure they did as this is why I didn't buy them.

I ll 2nd on the Aldi chicken, really good.
As a student, I manly stick to eggs/pilchirds/mince/dried legumes as my cheap sources of proteinBuy for value not cost.
Feb Grocery = £55.87 / 800 -

Tyketto, lol, Forever young was their best song, in the Vaughan days
Discovered tyketto in 1994 when I was 16 heard Forever young and still listen to them today every now and again. Good stuff.
Anyway back to the chicken .... and hopefully some Iceland shoppers with some details0 -

The lakeland do have added water, sald and stuff in them and are CURRENTLY on OFFER at tesco, £2.99 for 600g.
My local tesco very rarely have tesco's own brand value chicken (even less real chicken in it) instore so more likely to find lakeland chickin fillets than anything else.0 -
Heya,
I get my chicken fillets from the butchers, I think its works out much cheaper, and also there seems to be less water in them, by that I mean they dont shrink to half the size when you start cooking them, which I find happens to icelands ones, and sometines, tescos basiscs ones.
I pay £25 for 3 trays of chicken, and on each tray there is at least 10 pieces of chicken breast, that are huge, each piece could feed two, I kid you not.
We end up frezzing them all individually and taking them out to defrost in the morning when we need them, they seem to keep us going for months, so it is very cost effective.
But it might be worth popping down to your local butchers, to see what they have to offer, and they are normally quite willing to make a deal with you, espically if its near the end of the day.
Hope this helps.0 -
Bump for Iceland chicken shoppers, how much you paying? whats in it (how much protein how much water)?

According to this page the chicken is 650g for £3 incredibly cheap if it is really 100% chicken. I can't find any nutritional details though.

Thanks when my current stock of chicken is gone I will go Iceland and post back detailing weights, content and prices.
They are still cheaper than lakelands 600g half price offer in tesco which is £3 but 50g less! Great.
I heard you can get even bigger bags 1.3kg in Iceland too.
Lots of offers on tuna at the moment too.
Im after cheap protein sardines, cottage cheese, tuna, salmon and chicken.
Thanks again.0
