Cheapest Skinless Chicken

Greetings,

Im a skint student looking for the cheapest supermarket to get skinless chicken breast/fillets with ideally the highest percent of chicken (a variety of water, salt, dextrose and sugar is added to most varieties).

I did stock up from Tesco's offer on lakeland chicken, but thats now off and not much many left.

The closest supermarkets to me are Tescos, Morrisons and Iceland.

I keep hearing good thinks about Icelands chicken but have yet to pop in.

Any recommendations to get cheap but high protein chicken?

Cheers
Rob

    Buy a whole chicken?

Buy chicken breasts with the skin on and remove it yourself?

Buy the 3 for £10 chickens from mr t and remove them yourself takes minutes to do ,no additives and good for your pocket.

  • What do you use it for? Considering the price difference, I always use Tesco Value chicken fillets for curries and stews! Perfectly alright for things like this, even though only 84% chicken. Proportionally cheaper than others too.

Chicken pieces on the bone are much much cheaper.
    They're also tastier.
Taking the skin off yourself is easy.

I usually get my chicken fillets from Tesco, because the local tesco isn't one of the bigger ones nor very well stocked its pot luck if the value packs are available.

Ideally I just want to get them out of the fridge, defrost and then stick them in my george foreman and eat them with wholegrain rice, sweet potatoes or wholemeal pasta. Or in a stir fry.

I was really wondering how Icelands chicken is, I never end up visiting the local one so before I do I just thought I would ask if people who shop at Morrisons, Tesco and Iceland could compare the varying prices and quality.

Im afraid im too lazy to skin the chicken and want my chicken in a slam in the george foreman compatiable format :rotfl:

Thanks for all the responses :T
  • I must say, i never even thought about chicken breasts not being 100% chicken!! amazing what you learn. I bought a pack of about 6 or 7 chicken breasts from tesco today for £6 - its tesco value - i eat these chopped up but with no sauce or anything covering them and find them perfectly fine - taste no different to more expensive brands - i must say though, if its available and cheaper, i go for skin on - it literally pulls off in one go and is just like the skinless breasts - no fuss, try it honestly!

This part of the OP's request seems to have been ignored, in pursuit of cheapness.
