Well there's lots of wonderful tips on this forum for keeping the house clean with vinegar, bicarb etc; but could someone pls help me put together a list of things to use when cleaning the inside of my car? What would you recommend for the dashboard plastics and leather seats? Thank you!
  • Leather Liquid soap and water on a damp cloth, then condition with either baby lotion, Baby Oil or hair conditioner.
Dashboards Baby Oil diminishes scratches and is also great for chrome trim
To sort out tar on the car make a soft paste of 3 parts bicarb to 1 part warm waterand apply to tar spots with a damp cloth - allow it to dry for 5 minutes then rinse off
Blessed are the cracked for they are the ones that let in the light

    Hi Dandy-Candy:hello:

I have merged your thread with the existing one on cleaning and washing cars.

If you don't get enough suggestions here, you might get more advice on cleaning the interior if you ask the experts over on the Motoring Board

    Thanks:)

I wash my car by hand every week. I use autoglym car shampoo but if you are looking for a cheaper shampoo then triplewax from ASDA is not bad.
I rinse the car over first with the hose pipe then wash using a sponge but using a different sponge for lower half of car and wheels, I then rinse with hose again to remove all the soap then aqua wax the car or shammy the car over with warm water.
    Hope this helps.

OK, so I finally got around to washing my car today after a while (not committing myself on this one). It's a metallic pale green/silver- and has black spots in a few places- they appear to be something tarry. Now I've never been able to shift them with just car-shampoo and water, and even last summer in the meagre sun that we had I had a go when they'd been warmed up- but they're still there.

It's a lease car and going back in October. I want to shift them before then without damaging the paint- any suggestions?

Best way to remove the black marks is with tar remover and a soft cloth. Autoglym sell this product but there is going to be a cheaper one around. Hope this helps
  • I lived in New York and there are lots of car cleaning stations. The best thing about them is that they are cheapest in terms of rates but not in terms of quality services.
