My girl was going out this morning to buy me a plant or flower and I've told her to wait until tomorrow as she may get a better bargain. Saves her money and trying to teach her money saving ways. She made me a lovely card and gave me a hug and a kiss0

I received a bunch of tesco roses of my son today - bought yesterday - didn`t realise the poor kid had paid so much for them though!Make £2 a day challenge - doing well so far.0

What - £7?!0

I thought picking primroses etc was not allowed anymore? Is it different because the daffs are not wild flowers but planted by the highway authority (in which case surely they belong to them).
I must say I don't approve as I enjoy looking at the daffodils on our dual carriageway as I pass.
I was ony explaining the law as I was told by a PCSO recently. I had to go away for a few days this morning for work so just had a card from my son and a phone call and my daughter phones from her holiday and we will celebrate it in a fortnight when she is home. However I had a little tear as my son's card thanked me for being patient, supportive and considerate to him. He also said him and his sister wouldbe lost without me. As a family we have just had the 1st good year together since the children were born. So a card with those words written in it is worth more to me than a £50.00 bouquet of flowers. Hope everyone had some nice ones though!0 -
I expect to pay more for flowers on these occasions, what really peed me off is the quality of the flowers in Tesco's on Saturday afternoon. Some of the bunches has literally just the stalks left.0

And it is legal to do this unless you sell them or dig up the whole plant.
Dont know if it's legal or not but I do know it's not moral!! They are there for all to see and the thought of someone stealing them for their own purposes, well it's not right at all.Thank you all who post.0 -

Not sure if I'm in the right place but wanted to tell you all about Tesco and their flowers for Mum's day. I went in this morning expecting to buy their Finest rose bouquets which are nornally £10. No - today they're £20!! All other flowers wer doubled - literally in price. I complained to the customer services desk who said they totally agreed and please please, all who have expereinced this to call the HO number as below (freephone) and complain.

I hope lots of you might do so - this is the worst rip -off I've seen in ages.
Anyway rant over and I sincerely apologise if I have posted inthe wrong place!
The easiest way to have voiced your concerns and shown your disgust would been not to have bought them.
I take it you didn't buy them ? If you did buy them, then I'm afraid you and all those who did are the reason for them doubling the price.0 -
And yet Tesco had some £2 a bunch 'pocket money' bouquets. Granted, not as nice as the bigger bunches but you get what you pay for. There were plenty when I went (I bought 4 bunches of freesias at £3 each for my mum as they're her favourite flower, and more stems than a bouquet for the same money)
I can't understand your moral indignation at this. As someone has already pointed out this is just classic economics - when demand outstrips supply price goes up.
In case you haven't noticed, this is why Christmas decorations cost more before Christmas than they do afterwards!
If you don't want to pay the price, don't fuel the demand. Buy something else! Plant the seed/bulbs yourself 6 months in advance. Make a gift instead of buying it. But don't get all holier than thou.
I'm willing to guess you'd be just as morally outraged at Tesco charging no extra for Mother's Day flowers and thereby undercutting the small independent florists who would go out of business as a result.0
