Hi All,
Not sure if I'm in the right place but wanted to tell you all about Tesco and their flowers for Mum's day. I went in this morning expecting to buy their Finest rose bouquets which are nornally £10. No - today they're £20!! All other flowers wer doubled - literally in price. I complained to the customer services desk who said they totally agreed and please please, all who have expereinced this to call the HO number as below (freephone) and complain.

I hope lots of you might do so - this is the worst rip -off I've seen in ages.
Anyway rant over and I sincerely apologise if I have posted inthe wrong place!

Have you heard of a little known system called supply and demand? It's not that uncommon really.0
-
Of course I have - but the point is DOUBLING the price is ridiculous. Espcially when it was something that yestrday cost half the price. Now if you want to have special bouquets only available for that occasion, then price them at what you want. But to provide the same product at twice the price, knowing people will want to buy something, rather takes advantage of the situation to an unacceptable degree - especially in the current climate.0

Why is it unacceptable though? Have you tried buying a bunch of roses on valentines day?
Tesco aren't a public service provider, they're a business. If they can make more money on something as lucrative as mothers day then they will (and should, if you ask any if their shareholders).0 -
well I'm less mercenary I suppose.0

this is the reason why I don't succumb to all the commercialism of Valentine's Day, Mothers' day etc. I just buy a card, and I don't go to hallmark or Clinton's as they're overpriced. The card factory for me.Striving to clear the mortgage before it finishes in Dec 2028 - amount currently owed - £26,322.670

I'm with you ladymisswolfe. I asked hubby to get a bunch of flowers for my Mum whilst he was shopping and he has spent £12.50 on a tiny bunch of flowers!! We already have a present for her so I only wanted a small amount spent! There are 12 flowers in the bunch - 3 roses, 3 crysanths, 3 gerbeas and 3 tulips. A complete rip off in my opinion and we have had words about it! He said he had no idea what the flowers should cost and everyone was buying them. Also I see from the receipt he has spent £10 on flowers presumably for me. There are many things I would have preferred for a £10 gift than Tesco rip off flowers - yes I AM ungrateful. If I thought Tesco would refund them I would take both bunches straight back.0

I'm with you too expensive, take them back and demand a refundStarting to save £2 coins again, but it is a struggle:rotfl:Not doing very well keep spending them

Why? They made the decision to spend that money, so it's not Tesco's fault. I am pretty sure that bunches of flowers are non-refundable anyway. We have removed your signature - please contact the forum team if you are not sure why - Forum Team0 -

I feel like my husband has been conned actually. I think Tesco must know people are buying flowers this weekend who do not regularly buy them. Yes I expected a mark up but this is taking the mickey.0 -

So the commercial world takes advantage of any given day doesn't mean that it is right. Tesco love to market themselves as being the nation's saviour, supporting communities etc - a bit more transparency would be nice. Of course I expect Sir Tel et al to make commercial decisions but don't insult us all by pretending to care for it's consumers' finances.Value-for-money-for-me-puhleeze!
