    Make sure its not in upside down :D sounded like it wasn't in properly the 2 clips should come up at the side as you push it in and hold it in place.
  • Things to check
    - Did the BIOS verify the memory change?
    - Have you got the same speed for the memory that you already have. You state you have brought 1GB. Is that 1x1Gb or 2x512Mbytes?
    - All memory should be the same size for each slot. That is 1.5Gbytes should fill 3 slots (3x512Mbytes)
    - The memory should not show any of the contact exposed when slotted in. This is a good indication that it is seated well in the slot.
    - The OS will also tell you that there has been a change in hardware if successful.
