Hi all.
I want to open a saving account and I'm not sure among B&B (3%), A&L (3%) and Citibank (3.26%). All of them have introductory bonus rate (next year I will shift)
I made some research, there are many feedback about B&B, A&L but not about Citibank.
Can anyone give his opinion on Citibank and that account?
thank you

Well, it's FSCS protected and the US goverment hold about 35% of Citi stocks, but I'm no great expert. Some controversy recently about how profitable Citi's trading has actually been this year, but which banks are making a profit at the moment?0

thank you, yes the bank should be safe, but anyone has experience with that account or similar? shalli I go for B&B?0

I found citibank are very slow to open an account. Once open all was fine. Not the best online website but better then many.
Overall, I like Citi and am a happy customer.0 -
How long did it take you to open the account?
I filled-in the online form over a week ago but am still awaiting the paperwork. The site says 5 working days.0 -
Many of us appear to use Egg, which is a Citibank subsidiary, with no problems.
I found them quick to open my 6.3% (guaranteed for 12 months) savings account last October and responsive to any queries.0 -
Egg now take the max three days to respond - it seems like their customer service budgets have now been slashed. Citibank are always quick tho - as it's the same phone line for us ordinary folk and the high earners0

Thank you all
Is it easy to transfer money to a new issue account when the bonus ends?0 -
My experience so far is here!

And to update, I STILL have not had the charge removed !0 -
I put £14k with Citibank only recently, as said they are very slow to set things up and the activation scenario I found confusing, didn't expect an Indian call centre from an American bank, well not an Asian one anyway;)
(that was joke by the way, not a racist comment). I do prefer a banks call centre to be in the UK as I have telephone hearing issues.
That said no real problems yet. Just read the above posters issues with Citibank and it seems it was his error that resulted in him being charged, maybe they could have done more tho'I like the thanks button, but ,please, an I agree button.
Will the grammar and spelling police respect I do make grammatical errors, and have carp spelling, no need to remind me.;)
Always expect the unexpected:eek:and then you won't be dissapointed0 -
I looked at the review section on moneywise search engine and as a result didn't use citybank - the consensis seemed to be that transfers were very slow, which sounded alarm bells for me (as I had planned it as an account for a lump sum to drip feed other accounts). Some communications problems are reported as well....but it is a good rate of interest, although it seems it may drop??0
