Aaah, the Seventies... Winter of Discontent, strikes, shortages and power cuts... and the threat of all out nuclear war to keep the proles focussed.
Aaah the Noughties, the only difference being that we have internal rather than external threats to keep the proles focussed...
Nothing like history repeating to give you a nice, warm feeling!
If you do what you've always done, you'll get what you've always got.

Ah, PFI....
Why pay once when you can pay again, and again, and again???If you do what you've always done, you'll get what you've always got.

I can see another penny, if not two on the basic (albeit for a shorter period) rate of tax. 5 pence for the higher rate and perhap a decrease in stamp duty levels. This will, I believe, be implemented regardless of who is in power. Add this to the increase in interest rates over the next two to three years and it's not looking good for many.30th June 2021 completely debt free…. Downsized, reduced working hours and living the dream.0

Let's get this straight. We are taxed to death. Tax one everything, plus N.I, and council tax, VAT, fuel tax, dividend tax, stamp duty, etc. And there is MORE to come? UN fffff ing believable.
I don't mind paying a FAIR share of tax, but this is ridiculous.0 -

The forthcoming budget will be interesting..... not just for tax rises but public sector expenditure will need to be capped in real terms.
Seriously thinking of becoming a crofter and living a simple life living off the land.0 -
