MSE Computer Programming Thread

Just a thought, as there seem's to be a lot of like minded techies on this forum I thought it would be a good idea to start a thread on computer programming where people who write code for a living or just have a general interest could gather and provide tip's, trick's and advice on programming.

The thread Could cover all aspects of programming from C#, SQL, VB, PHP, HTML, ASPX, C++, C, ASM etc, so what do you reckon then, make it a sticky?

static void main
printF("Hello World!)
Since when has the world of computer software design been about what people want? This is a simple question of evolution. The day is quickly coming when every knee will bow down to a silicon fist, and you will all beg your binary gods for mercy.

    There are literally thousands of forums dedicated to the various aspects / languages involved.

    I dont see how you can expect to cover anything meaningful in one thread? :confused:

    Sorry.

    If reason_for_thread != 'good idea' then
    exit
    endif;

    Hi Paul, there is nothing on MSE to cover this subject, just thought it would be nice to something on here that was all. ;)

    I'd quite like to learn a bit from a thread like this. I need to get round to learning C properly soon. Might do a bit more PHP first though.

    I agree with Paul; there are so many other forums out there that cover programming, and it would be pretty difficult to go in-depth in just one thread.

    "Programming" is pretty general and could cover thousands and thousands of different topics, most of which would be pretty incomprehensible to the general readership here.

    But, if people want to talk about programming, time will tell. I don't recall it being a topic that comes up very frequently though.

    No wonder the database got an error, with infinite loops like that!

    Marty, I am aware of the vast amount fora on the internet covering programming, however as MSE has a varied audience it would be an ideal place to start a general discussion thread and as you stated this is not the type of subject to arise at high frequency on MSE so following the thread would not really be an issue. ;)

    Yes! Those were the days when you could rule the world on 128Kb of RAM!

    That was the plan, hence no subroutine or count :)
