Travel Insurance?

I agree, it seems very unfair on customers.
Travel Insurance has enough small print in it already and is actually quite a complex policy for what in effect could be an uncomplicated policy.
I suppose its another victim of the drive to have the most competitive price, they have to trim cover to the bone to reduce claims costs so they can achieve the competitive prices.0 -
Quentin I like this policy, it has the following covers which are fairly unusual
a) Financial Failure of Travel or Accomadation Provider
b) New for Old on Baggage
c) Cancellation Cover if you are made redundant
d) The Legal Section includes Consumer Disputes eg if you want to sue the Package Provider for describing the holiday incorrectly
e) The annual policy covers children to travel independently
f) They class children as under 18 or under 23 if in full time education
The levels of cover are quite generous too.
Its not the cheapest policy but the cover is good and the cheapest is not always the best.

It has this condition (which seems to make it similar to the tesco one regarding conditions which develop whilst you are insured, and after you book a trip):You should call the Medical Screening Line if you are travelling outside the United Kingdom and:i) you develop a new condition after your policy was issued...........If, as a result of your call, we wish to impose special terms, such as an additional premium, this will be advised to you immediately and confirmed in writing. Should you decide not to pay the additional premium the declared medical condition will not be covered.
Isn't this just the same concern (or very similar) to the Tesco policy you warned about?0 -
Thats on the annual policies not the single trip policies and they tend to be quite fair on them if its mid term.0

They are still saying they won't definitely cover you (unless you agree to more terms and maybe pay more premium) should a condition develop after you book your trip - even though you may have taken out the annual policy on the day you booked the trip and were fully healthy!0

I'm not sure that mine is an annual policy as it is just tied in with the type of bank account I have. However it is a heart condition and she will be having surgery for it when we return. I will phone the insurers tomorrow.0
