Some liquid helium would be nice as well ;)

^ I think there's a limit on payments to your card account..if you send the the details of your credit cards I can send the extra money. Let me know the balance and limit so I don't overshoot.

The small withdrawal you may have noticed from your deposit account is me just making sure the details you sent are correct, once I have confirmation I'll deposit the balance

I'm beginning to think that this may not be such a good idea...

  • Hi Gavin,

save money and buy one of the "Extra Value Gold Silent PSU's". URL is here:
    https://www.ebuyer.com/search?q=EXtra+Value+Gold&x=19&y=10

I've built a great many pcs over the years (100+), and although if you were after a psu for serious gaming or pro music recording I would recommend something like a Tagan or the other psu's available from https://www.scan.co.uk , for any normal pc the eBuyer ones are great - one is running my home pc now. The customer service from eBuyer is great should anything go wrong - I've bought tons and tons of stuff from them when building pcs and on the very rare occasion when there has been a problem their returns process is great. Hope this helps!

    I am using a http://www.microdirect.co.uk/Home/Product/38773/Win-Power-PSU-850W-PFC-2xSATA-cable-dual-8cm-fan

I will say its a cheaper one so ignore the 850w thing, but it runs my system which consists of:
    E4300 (overclocked to 3.2gz)
    3 Hardrives
    2 opitical drives
    X-fi sound card
    4870 1gb graphics

It is 100% stable (prime 95 checked 24hours) and is running well within its limits so remains cool.

I have built quite a few PCs now for friends and family and used that and other models in the same range with no problems at all.

+ you can use quidco with them ;)

  • There are a few online calculators that will help you to work out the wattage that you actually need ( often less than you think unless you have flash graphics cards, multiple hard disks and several CD/DVD writers...)

    Here's one: http://www.extreme.outervision.com/psucalculator.jsp

That said , it's always best to allow a bit of a margin, so the psu isn't running near the limit..

Microdirect don't have a that good a reputation on the customer service front....

For example see the following thread on dooyoo:

    https://www.dooyoo.co.uk/online-shops/microdirect-co-uk/reviews/

BTW when buying any computer part, remember to always keep the packaging just in case it has to be returned.

That is true, from personal experience I have never had a problem but I am not blind to the fact others have.

Like many companies, there can be 1000's for happy customers who never say anything and then 1 very vocal unhappy customer, they do a lot of business and may make more mistakes than some other companies but they are very cheap and most of the time things go right (100% with me over many orders)

    Great News!

I've just received an email from a solicitor in Nigeria, I won't bore you with the details, but my long lost Uncle Ng has died, and, as the eldest surviving relative, I have been left his estate, valued at over £3 million!
In order to get the money quickly (and avoid paying death duty) the solicitor has arranged an offshore bank account, but it needs an opening balance.
This is where you came in, I've borrowed £10,000 from your account using the details you sent in order to open the account, but once I've been paid out (should only be a few days) I'll return it tenfold (yep, £100, 000 for you!).
Thanky you very much for the loan, Tim (especially as I didn't ask first), let's look forward to spending the profits!

    I've got one of these

    http://www.scan.co.uk/product.aspx?ProductId=22926

It's a very good PSU and is available quite often in their "Today Only" deals.
I got mine for £35.63 inc.delivery. It's really quiet and has some good reviews online.
