I am looking to replace my current atx psu which is giving me problems. Does anyone have any recommendations for a reasonably priced 500+Watt power supply unit.

I don't know what you call 'reasonable', but I have a couple of coolermaster PSUs, a 750w and a 520w.
They might seem initially expensive, but solid performance and a 5 year warranty make them, imo, good value (especially considering how expensive a cheap PSU could be if it takes out the motherboard or CPU

This is the one I went for as I needed > 500watts - needed it in a hurry so went into Maplin
http://www.maplin.co.uk/Module.aspx?ModuleNo=223827
It has however gone up in price as I only paid £39.99 a couple of weeks ago. It seems good quality and does the job. Though it has blue LED's built into it shining out the back which I find quite pointless and annoying.
Don't forget to check which connections you need. I could have got a lot cheaper if I didn't need 3 x SATA connectors.LBM : March 2008

same one (as the maplin one) on used on ebay for £15.
I'd wonder who'd change several PSUs....only reasons I can think of are upgrading (but 580w would supply enough power for most modern systems) or a business experiencing high failure rates and just getting shut of them..or maplin returns?Utinam logica falsa tuam philosophiam totam suffodiant.0 -
Thanks for replies I was considering a budget of £40 to £50.0

I'll just go and get my superconduting cable, so I can get those 200W down south!Ubuntu is an ancient African word, meaning: 'I can't configure Debian'.0

^ if you want to send me your bank details, including the 3 digit number from the back of the card, I'll send you some money towards the cable
