Bradford & Bingley savings account number

Options
Hi all,

I recently opened an E-Savings 7 account with Bradford & Bingley. They have not supplied any sort code or 8 digit account number, only there own 12 digit account number.

This means i cannot transfer money from various accounts, only the account linked by Direct Debit.

To me, this is not normal practice. Why can't they simply supply the info upfront. It's like they don't want my money!

I know it's really annoying but you can only request transfers from your linked account to B&B. And that, has to be done by B&B themselves.
It's one of the reasons I only transfer money in when I don't know where else to put it.

Another annoying thing is, that once they have your money, it's not cleared for you to withdraw for six more days!

Baldur...I thought you could only request B&B to make the transfer. That you couldn't ask your linked account to transfer.
Am I wrong in thinking this?

Just read your link properly Baldur and see that it only refers to Branch/Postal accounts. Not internet accounts.

The point to note is the phrase in the quote "PLEASE NOTE THIS INFORMATION IS FOR BRANCH/POSTAL ACCOUNTS ONLY"

Exactly - your account only appears to accept transfers from the linked account/accounts, just like many other internet savings accounts from other providers.

Really? I've had savings accounts with Halifax, HSBC, Nationwide and ING and all allowed transfers other than DD.

Actually, Bradford & Bingley Internet accounts are the only ones I've come across, where the transfer has to be initiated by the 'receiving' institution.
All my other accounts elswhere, I tell the 'sending' institution to 'send' the funds.
