Claiming PPI for Natwest Loan.

Hi All,

Following my success with Halifax credit card unfair charges claim. (all down to help from the lovely people on this forum!)

I am hoping to help my partner claim the PPI he was sold with his Natwest loan. He took the loan out 6 years ago and is still paying it off. He cancelled the insurance last week, which dropped the payments by £80 a month!!
So I was wondering if anyone has successfully claimed from Natwest, and also what steps did they take.. ie what address did they send letters too and which letters they sent.
Any help would be much appreciated - if all works out well I may finally get an engagement ring...;)

Many Thanks

  • Do you think it was mis-sold? Or are you smelling the ££££'s?

    Hello there

Awe how sweet is that "an engagement ring", for this we will make sure we will do all we can for him to get his money back.:D :T (if he was mis sold this obviously lol)X

Great news on the charges, Well done  :T , now on to the PPI.

I take it he still has the paperwork or agreement for this loan?

If not he can write and request for a copy, enclose a £1 postal order of cheque payment, they should supply this by 12 days of request.
Post all letters by recorded delivery.

Now for the reclaiming ppi side of things.;)
Check out this useful link below to help you through this:
    http://www.moneysavingexpert.com/reclaim/ppi-loan-insurance

Have a browse through the above and you will also come across templates in stages, write to them obviously using stage one template and use his reasons for why he was mis sold the PPI.

They have 8 weeks to respond in full, post by recorded delivery.

If not successful first time round, write back to them until you exhaust their complaints procedures, they will let you know this in the final response with details on how this can be investigated further, for example, the Financial ombudsman service.

Keep us posted and we can help every step of the way, and just give us a yell for more help whenever.:D ;)

Good luck and we will make sure you get that engagement ring.:T :A ;)

  • Hi All,

Yup smelling the £££'s (arent we all?), however he was told he needed the PPI. Also when he added to it about 2 years ago he was told he had to keep the PPI by a bank manager! Was great to get the charges back on my student credit card it had me having lots of sleepless nights, tears and all sorts- so great to be free of Hellifax! Just hope that more good can come!

The thing is he has added to his loan a couple of times, to pay off credit card, when buying a new car and also a wee smidge to help christen our daughter. So would we need all of the agreements? He is a hoarder so I would of thought he has most of them, I know he definatly has the most recent one.

I have read through the link (thanks Di) and will be digging out the paperwork we have. And hopefully get this all underway (I want this ring and the same name as my daughter! lol).

If anyone knows of the correct addresses for the right Natwest departments that would be great - after my experience with Halifax I know thats important. Like my credit card claim, I shall keep you all posted, I know how helpful people found it.

    Thanks...

  • Hi has been a few,

Finally my computer is working! Righty I have dug out what infor we have on the loan, however I am going to have to send off the letter requesting the original loan agreement documents. The thing is, My other halfs loan was taken out a few years ago, but has been added to over the years, and Natwest did this by paying off the existing loan and retaking out a loan for the outstanding balance plus the extra (if that makes any sense?) and to make matters a wee bit more complicated has switched from his own account to our joint account.
I was wondering do I need to request the information for all of the seperate times that the loan amount was changed? Each time it was changed we were just sent the forms with the loan protector already on them or told by someone at the bank we needed the loan protector.
    Any ideas anyone?
    Thanks in advance

Hi hun and not a problem.

You could ask if they would kindly send you any info free, but then this is not always the case.

For each loan I believe there is a new agreement, so yes you would have to request for each on in this case.

At this point you do not have to request a Subject access request (SAR), but just write to them to request for your copies of the agreement, they cost £1 each for these normally and make the payment by either postal order or cheque payment, they should supply them to you by 12 days of request.

I would ask them in writing for these, and tell them you expect to receive the copies of the agreements by 12 days, post as well by recorded delivery so you have proof of posting.

Shout anytime hun, your very welcome, and hope you get a better day tomorrow.:A ;)

  • Cheers,

    So I send the letter:
I am writing to request a copy of my original loan agreement’s with Natwest. Blah Blah and change the
"I look forward to your response within 40 days, as is obliged under the Data Protection Act 1998. If not I shall seek remedy from the Information Commissioner." part to 12 days?
    Thanks Di!
