Problem with IP addresses on two networks

As already mentioned, a wired or wireless ADSL router would be an easier solution, and it would give you extra protection with it's built-in firewall. If you can afford the £50-£60..? You would probably save that in electricity, as there would be no need to have 2 pc's switched on to use the xboxEver get the feeling you are wasting your time? :rolleyes:0

Hi Jonny,
Go to Control Panel, network connections, Right click the network card that u will connect to Xbox-- then choose properties --- bottom choice i the panel -- TCP/IP -- double click it and then specify the IP address you want.

When i try to share the internet connection to the xbox it won't let me as it says the ip address must be 192.168.0.1 and this ip address is being used by the computer receiving the connection from the adsl modem. Is there any way of changing the default ip address so the ip address doesn't have to be 192.168.1.1.

So do you have a router then? If so, try connecting the Xbox to the router with the crossover cable.jonnymeldrum wrote:As the crossover cable can't be used from the router, I need to use the crossover cable from the computer with the two network cards to the xbox.
Many routers have MDI/MDI-X switching, which means that the Ethernet ports can be connected with a crossover cable or a straight-through cable and the port will automatically sense the type of cable and make the right connection.0 -
Yes, I have a router but the 50 foot crossover cable will not work with the crossover cable.0

you could buy another short crossover cable, and a connector to link the 2 together.Ever get the feeling you are wasting your time? :rolleyes:0
