Pizza Express Vouchers Discussion

Went to the Pizza Express in Northampton on Sunday night. I had booked the table and checked that i could use the Tesco vouchers even though it was mothers day. I was told the only condition, apart from not being able to use them for drinks/tips, was that the maximum number of diners was 8. There were 8 of us so this wasn't a problem. Until i came to pay. First of all the waitress said the maximum i could use was £80 worth of vouchers, when i insisted that i'd checked on the phone she called the manager. He tried to tell me that it was in the terms and conditions as specified in the letter. It wasn't, it only states that you can have a maximum of 8 diners. He was insistent that one £10 voucher = 1 diner despite the fact that the terms and conditions and vouchers make no reference to a maximum monetary value. He even had the cheek to claim that he was the one who'd spoken to me on the phone and that he'd told me this. At this point i got a bit more irate than usual because it was a lady i spoke to on the phone and he was clearly trying to pull the wool over my eyes. I got quite militant and in the end he relented and accepted that all of the food could indeed be paid for by vouchers, as a one off.

Has anyone else had this problem or is this simply one restaurant trying to pull a fast one?

I dont think they were trying to pull the wool over your eyes jon as the staff would have no gain from this.But all i would say is that the staff are scared in case they do a wrong transaction because if there is money owing in any way the staff have tp pay.We carry our own float and have to give what the till says over at the end of the night.So maybe its more about the staff being scared than being rude,but of course i cant comment on this individual case

Oh and sorry forgot to say,as far as i know you can use as many tescos vouchers as you like

But where did they get the whole £10 per diner thing from? It seems that they just made it up.

Anyone been and used the 2 courses and wine for £12 deal? I've never been to Pizza Express before, what would anyone recommend from the set menu for the £12 deal?

We went to the Highgate branch the waiter was charming the pizza cold and tasteless-#12 meal deal was not very good and we left the pizza because it was horrible. wouldn't recomend it wouldn't go again.

I'm sure they would have replaced it straight away if you had told them. I have never had that problem at Pizza Express and have been many, many times.

I am a regular pizza express goer and went there last night for a special dinner.. was shocked to see that 2 glasses of house white came to almost £12!!!! i could have bought two bottles of wine for that price.. i'm pretty sure that it was never that expensive before!! pizza was lovely and I lov that they are doing the healthier range but not impressed one little bit with the price of the wine!

The wine is the same price in all thses sorts of restaurants,thats why i go to a weatherspoon pub to eat..... lol

Its a good deal if you want garlic bread or dough balls as a starter and have an alcoholic drink
