I am trying to connect a laptop to my home network. It is asking me to enter the SSID of the network. It is not the default because that was changed by an engineer who set up the network. I can't remember the name he used and I don't know where to find it on my computer. Any help would be much appreciated.

Go to your router or Wireless Access Point's configuration panel and you will find it there.

If you cannot see the SSID on your laptop when your WiFi NIC tries to connect, the SSID will be set to 'disable broadcast' at the router. Therefore you will have to connect to the router via a cable and then login using your password, to discover what the SSID was set to in the wireless set-up menu.
If you don't remember the SSID, do you remember the password for the router?
 Blue text on this forum usually signifies hyperlinks, so click on them!..:wall:0 -
this may give you a clue, unless the ssid broadcasting has been turned off:

if you found it using netstumbler, then it is a good idea to turn off ssid broadcasting on your router, otherwise everyone else will also be able to find it..Ever get the feeling you are wasting your time? :rolleyes:0
