Im going to be away all week next week... EEEK!! leaving my husband in charge of the kids ...
He's not exactly domesticated haha, so i need ideas to keep them all fed for the week stuff i can prepare tonight that will last for the week otherwise it will be takeout every night and our bank account will suffer.
So far i have ...
1 portion of chickpea/chicken cassarole - frozen he can serve with rice or potatos.
1 portion of Beef Chill - frozen can be served with rice.
So thats 2 out of 5 evening meals sorted. (need another 3 ideas but have NO freezer space so they need to keep for at least a few days in the fridge)
I've also made up enough sandwiches / cakes/flapjacks for the kids lunchbox for the week, so with yogurt and a peice of fruit the kids should be fine.
I also need 5 days worth of lunch idea's for my husband, he won't touch bread ... eekk ... i usually do him a cassarole or stirfry he can microwave.
But my freezer is bursting and i don't think either will keep till friday in the fridge... veg in the stirfry especially will go all soggy, any ideas??
Also i have 1/2 a turkey crown "cooked" in the fridge so if something can use this up that would be great.
Ingredient wise i have limitless herbs/spices, tons of frozen veg, Fresh stirfry veg, turkey mince, chicken, rice, potato's, pasta etc0 -
you could pre chop the veg for stir fry, put it in a sealed box and he can do it with some of the turkey.
lunches I do DH pasta with mushrooms (cook the mushrooms in stock and add a spoonful of grainy mustard and a squirt of lemon juice) this lasts a few days, I usually do 2 or 3 days at a time and put in seperate containers
cous cous is also good for lunches
could you get him to buy a supermarket pizza and have that one night - much cheaper than take away, he could even do extra for lunches.
pasta and pesto is also easy
something like fish fingers, waffles and beans...mine and DH's saturday meal usuallyMum to gorgeous baby boy born Sept 2010:j0 -

Monday - HM Chickpea and Spinach Curry and Rice

Friday - Cheese Omelette and Salad
Saturday - Fish Pie0 -
Hola!

Tuesday 24th: Diced turkey thigh (very cheap in tescos) plus veggies for stew and dumplings.
Wednesday 25th: Pork loin steaks, grain mustard mash, 2 x veggies and cheese sauce
Thursday 26th: (guests coming) Lasagne and HM garlic bread
Friday 27th: Fajitas and salad
Saturday 28th: Invited to friends for dinner party
Sunday 29th: Roast pork
Lunches:
Monday 23th: Sunday dinner sandwiches (chicken, gravey, stuffing and bread sauce!)
Tuesday 24th: Jacket potato and cheese or tuna
Wednesday 25th: Soup (made from whizzed leftover stew and diluted with some spare stock)
Thursday 26th: Lucky dip from freezer!
Friday 27th: spare bolognaise (not used for lasagne) on jacket potato
Saturday 28th: usually have a fry-up for brunch
Puddings: Free choice of fruit, rice pudding, HM ice cream. Might do a crumble when we have guests on Thursday evening.
Just realised we're not having fish at all this week... will probably have tuna with my jacket potato then! Tut tut me... I don't usually forget a fish-based dinner, will have to have two next week to make up for it.0 -

As this has fallen from the front page, I'll add this to the Mealplans thread. There are lots of ideas there for you to choose from
I recall from your previous posts that your DH is difficult to pleaseso it's going to be nigh on impossible for us to recommend dishes to you. Can he not take some things from the freezer and eat them - how difficult is it to cook a chop

I would just get food sorted for the children and if he doesnt like the same food....he can cook something for himselfMy DD is 14 and is competent at cooking (supervised) a full roast if needed.
He is a fully grown man....he will be fine!

Adjusted menu after it all went kind of wrong!
Sat - haggis & neeps for the meat eaters, pasta & tomato sauce for the vegetarian - YES, WE HAD THIS
Sun - hm pizza (with pepperoni for the meat eaters) - AND THIS
Mon - potato, cheese & onion pie, baked beans - USED ALL THE ONIONS AND THE LEEKS AS WELL
Tues - CHANGED TO brown rice risotto with cashews and kidney beans
Wed - CHANGED to vegetable soup and cheese toasties
Thurs - CHANGED to cauliflower cheese
Fri - CHANGED to stuffed aubergine with walnuts and parmesan (but this might change too: oh doesn't really like aubergine as much as I do, and I have a nice lamb keema curry in the freezer from last week's takeaway, so I might do reheated keema, an aubergine thing, rice & peshwari naan (courtesy of sharwoods) instead)
