I read this at the top of the forum page "Remember there's no such thing as a stupid question, pls be nice to all MoneySavers! " I guess those who have been contributing to the forum for awhile tend to forget the basics.0

I said I had been employed for 5 years and gave my employers details as they are recorded in the phone book with the correct phone number etc....the computer gave me instant approval and I know they didn't confirm with my employers as I have a friend in HR. Also as a bluechip financial company they wouldn't release data about me anyway.
Hope this helps Will.
Will - for your information, carrying out this suggestion may render you liable to a criminal charge of 'deception to gain a pecuniary advantage', ie FRAUD. You would, at the very minimum, have a CIFAS marker put on your credit file, which would then prevent you from obtaining mainstream credit (if any at all) for years to come.
My advice is to ignore the advice of as400.0 -

For crying out load the guy has no job!
He has 2 credit cards with no o/s balance!
His/her priority should be to get a job first to get some income to justify getting any new credit.
Can those jumping down my throat tell me one good reason why my advice has been off the mark here?
Are we here to save people money (and in a lot of cases from themselves) or do we just advise them to apply willy nilly just for the sake of it.0 -
Although people may think the original post may be a stupid question it may be an important question to some. I for one am currently unemployed and have been for 3 months now with a view to being 'unemployed' for probably the next 2 yrs (MBA programme and starting my own biz). I therefore do not have any money coming in but still have a mortgage of £1985 per month which I cover mainly through my savings). However if I can stooze the odd £10K to £20K via 0% credit cards then this maybe helpful.0

The OP made no reference to stoozing.0
