Well i already have a saver with Barclays, they created it for me when they created my bank account so thats fine - but its really the amount that im able to save, i mean if i save £100 a month (plus an extra £50 if possible) then thats £1350 before the end of the year - if i have that kind of funds availible will the OR be able to make any claim on it?
Thats my main worry, that i will save like a banshee and then have to give it all to them
Thanks

Hi Puzzled,
Once the budget has been agreed, it is yours to manage however you want to. Bearing in mind that there are monthly amounts that we only pay for once a year - MOT, AA renewal and so on then the OR fully expects people to be saving up for these if nothing else. If you are given £187 a month to eat - they can't make you spend 100% in the supermarket just as much as they can't make you go to the dentist or buy presents for people --- get my drift

Well I thought whats the worst that can happen! I have just applied online for a sainsbury's savings account with a cashcard. The application didn't ask if I was BR and I could not see anywhere in t&c about not being allowed if you are BR. I know they will use the get out clause that they can close account for any reason or refuse application if they choose to.
But when I finished, it said "congratulations on opening a sainsbury's savings account" you will be sent your application in the post, please sign and return it.
So does that sound successful? Or should I expect the standard decline letter in the post instead of the application form?
I will just try the Chelsea if this fails, I only tried Sainsbury's because you can do it online. Will let you know what happens! Don't hold your breath though! :rotfl:

Hey All,
Thanks for the advice - I am going to have a look at everything that they have allowed me that would be an annual or bi monthly purcahse (like hair cuts) and am going to put that into my barclays saver that i can then draw cash on to use for those expenses.
Anything extra will be going under the bed in a sealed tin that i can just forget about - failing it going under my bed i will take it to my nans and leave it there so that temptation is not in my way.
Let us know how you get on Donna, will be interesting to see if they dont let you have the account or something later. But since its not a credit account or a currant account you might be ok, fingers crossed

I was declined a Sainsburys Savings Account. I was told to apply again when I was discharged and that I should send them my discharge certificate.0

Hi, I got the same message as you too positivestep.
Saying that, I just applied again to the Yorkshire Building Society! (glutton for punishment I know! ) but this was a reliable tip from the March club thread! :j I applied for the internet saver with cash card option, went through the application and was given a customer number and account number! :j
Just have to send them copies of stuff to prove my identity and hopefully it will all be well!
