If it doesn't fit, force it; if it breaks, it needed replacement anyway

Have you got a back-up of your document on an external drive, or web-hosted file-keeper?
You can get a 'Clippit' pop-up that says "It would appear you intend to commit suicide. Would you like help with that"
I have a word doc on my PC of 102MB.
    Without images it is 1.3MB.

:D Thanks guys, I should sign out of the internet then?
I have backed up the doc on a data key and I've emailed it to various locations (paranoia).

    It's a PhD thesis so it's my precious :D

  • In Word (2003 for certain) if you do save as and go to tools you can compress all the images in the document and discard any croped bits. It makes a huge difference if someone has made a document with lots of big bitmap images in it. Not sure it will help you much though, your document seems fairly small.

It's all words... 95,000 of them not counting the appendices that I'm trying to insert.

I'm beginning to hate every one of them  :D

This formatting malarkey is harder than the research!
