Edinburghlass wrote:edit to add: go to the Telephone Preference Service where you can add your mobile number to stop unwanted texts.
Unfortunatly it doesn't work like that:
(Taken from http://www.tpsonline.org.uk/tps/)The Telephone Preference Service can accept the registration of mobile telephone numbers, however it is important to note that this will prevent the receipt of live marketing voice calls but not SMS (text) messages. This is because under the Privacy and Electronic Communications (EC Directive) Regulations 2004 it is unlawful to send an unsolicited sales and marketing text message. Telemarketing companies who send SMS messages need your prior permission. There is no obligation therefore for companies sending SMS messages to people who have agreed to receive them, to screen against the TPS file. If you wish to stop receiving SMS marketing messages, please send an 'opt-out' request to the company involved. The Information Commissioners Office (ICO) is responsible for the enforcement of these regulations.0 -
Thanks for updating this thread as it was more than a year ago when I signed up for TPS and added my mobile number and I guess they have changed and updated the info on the TPS site.0

This is a known problem with all the networks - and non will refund charges caused by these premium txt's as it has to be signed up for 1 way or another - The companies who are doing this are very very sneeky... I dont know exactly where they get the mobile numbers.
If you are having problems with this then log on to
http://www.grumbletext.co.uk/
This is full of people with the same problems and they will give more specific details on how to stop these text's - They can even help fight the companies and get your money back -
I think it helps to know that ur not the only 1 who's getting scammed in this way - this is a nationwide problem and the more who shout about it will help get the government involved -0
