Orrrrrrrrrrrrr. Tiffany sounds like a little fighter , i hope all goes well at the vets, fingers crossed for you.
I love all animals and i think nature is nature. However i also can understand where some people on these posts are comming from , there is lots and lots of cats about these days , but dont forget this is down to human beings , as the selfish owners dont get there cats neutured which causes lots of unwanted kittens in animal shelters,.
Also yes door mice are roaming mad in certain woodland areas but again this is due to humans feeding them so they over populate, so i dont reall ythink any animal species is to blame for the events that happen .
Hope the little one pulls through and your cat doesnt catch anymore soon, tosave you the heartache.Ebay Bag A Day Challenge 2012- :staradmin

How do you figure that out? Cat numbers are huge (7.7 million in UK) and some cats have been known to individually take over 1,000 animals and birds etc a year.
The best thing cat owners can do is to keep their pet(s) in at night.
My cat only hunts at night but she's so big that attempts to keep her in by locking the cat flaps have failed cus she just kicks her way though them.
She will be moving back to Nottingham to live with me in the next month or so, and the house has one cat flap but we if we close the door into the kitchen at night she will have no choice but to stay in.
Where I can I've always kept my cats in at night - as much to protect the local miccies as to protect the cat from foxes or anything else they might get into a fight with.0 -
or put a little bell on their collar...when the cat does the 'pre-pounce-shimmy' the prey will soon be alerted to its presence!0

Doesn't always work I'm afraid. One of my cats is so bad for hunting we gave up on a bell and put an electronic bird scarer on her that bleeps loudly when they do their pre pounce shimmy, even then I still get up in the morning to dead mice on my hallway floor!or put a little bell on their collar...when the cat does the 'pre-pounce-shimmy' the prey will soon be alerted to its presence!1st Aim = Pay off Virgin CC - £3929.110 -

I'm very sad to say that the Vet put Tiffany down. When I took her there, she was actually quite lively and ran up the nurses arm, moving her bad leg in an (almost) normal way.
However, the Vet looked and said that the leg probably wouldn't heal properly and even if it did, she'd never survive in the outside world.
I said that I'd be more than happy to keep her and look after her as a pet, but the vet was ademant that you can't do that with wild animals - they never get accustomed to being a pet and they suffer mentally from the restrictions.
I must admit I was surprised by this last statement, but that may have just been me and my wishful thinking - I had convinced myself that the vet would suggest I keep her, rather than put her out in the wild.
It's a real shame - I'm not the most sentimental person in the world (apart from with my cats - but I try not to let that show) but I got very attached to this mouse - which is probably more than a little to do with guilt.
Ho hum. I went to Pets at Home to get cat & dog food but resisted the temptation to look at mice/hamsters - doing something on the rebound is never a good idea.
Thanks to everyone for their suggestions and best wishes.

Sorry to hear about Tiffany - she'll be running pain free over The Rainbow Bridge now (where cats have plenty of virtual mice to chase
) Please forgive me if my comments seem abrupt or my questions have obvious answers, I have a mental health condition which affects my ability to see things as others might.0 -
