Digital Video Camera - where can I get a driver?
Comments

Did it come with an installation CD? I would guess it did, and you installed its drivers successfully. How about trying to re-install them?
I know I had one or two problems with my firewire card when I first installed it. Which operating system are you using? If it's XP, then I think it might have its own driver for 1394/OHCI compliant cards. Could you try using that driver instead of the one on the install CD?
Do any video devices appear in Movie Maker or ulead?
I think there are utilities on the internet for testing firewire/DV drivers.
Does the DV card display a website for getting technical support, or include a troubleshooting guide?Of course, I may just be talking b****cks!0 -
Hi wonka - thanks for your help.
It did come with its own CD but I didn't need to use it. Yes, I have XP, and it located it's own driver. I've just this minute tried uninstalling and reinstalling with the disk, but it doesn't seem to have the right thing. The disk is labelled 1394 Driver, but it's a Ulead VideoStudio disk?!
No, no video devices appear in MovieMaker or uLead. I get an error message similar to "A Video Capture Device could not be located"
I'll have a look on the net for the DV/Firewire testers.
No, there is nothing with the DV card, and have rooted around to see if there is any tech supp, but nothing. Maybe I'll try the link to the manufacturer through the ebuyer website. Thanks for the idea.
I'll keep playing around and see if any of the ideas work. Thanks for your help."No matter how little money and how few possesions you own, having a dog makes you rich." - Louis Sabin0 -
If I were you, I would uninstall the 1394 driver (through Device Manager), and re-install with the install CD. It seems to me that the XP driver is having difficulty using the card, despite saying that it's working OK.
It's quite common to have drivers AND Application software (i.e. ulead) bundled on the same CD.
I would certainly use this CD, considering the problems you're having.Of course, I may just be talking b****cks!0
