Mornin to all the kind MSE'ers ,
i can understand the OP's position and his willingness and hers to buy a nice car ive several times looked into a nice MG ZR i really fancied wasnt 6k bare in mind but was 2459 but same principal the only difference is i didnt get a loan , but then my head did come to sense a bit more , atm im 18 and drive a VW Golf Gti . bought the car for 450 1 years tax and MOT absoloute bargain its a pretty tidy car for its age too but the best part is my insurance at 18 was only 1240 a year fully comp , im gathering the cars age plays a part, an MG ZR quote i got was just shy of 2300 a year , and when i bought my golf i was offered a saxo 1.1 I for 350 no tax or mot but quoted insurance of 2500 :S so i think i made the right choice in this one the car never let me down so far only when i blew the tyre out on a traffic island i should sue the council lol they pulled off the visi cone , anyway but regards to a loan maybe the banks the best bet.
hope it helps

why is there such a bad atmosphere on these forums? someone comes on to ask a question and all they get is moral judgements, sarcasm and insults.. i have never known a forum like it.. there needs to be some kind of moderation to control the majority of morons that post here.. it is a horrible place to post... !!!!!! is with you heads anyway? are you bored with your lives? do you feel that insignificant that you need to make yourselves feel bigger by putting down other people... seriously, grow TF up!! This place is like a playground full of bullys... if you guys just need hug yano im here for you because i do feel sorry for you... CLOWNS :rotfl:
Would you prefer it if everyone told the OP how to go about getting £6k of debt with no income?
Most of the advice has been sensible, some humorous, do you really feel these posts were insulting?
If you do I think you need to develop a thicker skin, and the OP needs to develop a more realistic approach to their finances.0 -
Why 6k and not £1500 max? I take she's in competiton with someone to see who can stuff 6 years up first!Wow, I got 3 *, when did that happen :j:T:p
It is not illegal to open another persons mail unless you intend to commit fraud - this is frequently incorrectly posted
I live in my head - I find it's safer there:p

Excuse me the OP but it seems to me his gf's options are pretty obvious given her circumstances and the fact that she wants a 6K car - she either manage to get a loan somewhere or get finance through the car dealer. There's no 'best route' as far as I'm concerned as she is unlikely to get interest rates of less than 10-15% either way.0

cant be bothered o read through the bickering so you may have heard this already.
go to your bank first, they have all your income expenditure on their screens and tend to have lower apr deals than the finance companies car dealers use.
or find out which company the car dealer uses and contact them directly....
either way. 6k for a first car? a bit extreme in my opinion but its your choice. also check for the same car but a couple of years older. you can get very good examples with low mileage and at half the price of new.
most importantly haggle. if you go to a dealer, ask what they can do you a deal for, in the current market they will chuck in a fair bit for a sale...0 -
this is my honest opinion, im not here to judge or tell you what to do, but i would just get a cheap run around for around 1k, my first car was an escort and paid £700 for it.
the car was mechanically in very good conidition, i had it 12months, and the only ever thing what was up with that car in the time i had it, was the driver...me!
i was young and thought i was invincible then went and skidded on black ice into a wall.
when you pass your test that is when you start learning to drive.
