Student needing 6K for a car - they best option?
Comments

what budget does she have for insurance, servicing and the loan repayments?
has she beeen saving this amount (on the assumption that it is money currently 'spare') and how much has she saved
what is her income... fairly important when applying for a loan0 -
I think that the most cost effective way to obtain it would be to look around for the same car a couple of years older than the one at £6k and expect to pay <£3k. Perhaps while she's looking she could be saving up.0

I think you may have come to the wrong place OP. This used to be where you could ask a financial question and get just a direct and relevant answer with the information you required.
Unfortunately it seems these days that offering opinon about other people's choices takes precedence over simply answering the question.
I applaud those who have managed to reply relevantly.Herman - MP for all!

In a nutshell you are looking for a way to buy something which you really cannot afford................................I have put my clock back....... Kcolc ym0

Have either of you even considered for a moment repaying a £6k loan at ANY interest rate.
Add to that the wonderful world of fuel, insurance, tax, repairs, tyres and pink fluffy stuff to decorate the insides to her liking.
Absolute suicide for a student.0 -

I may disagree with you a little. I do not think this was ever supposed to be a place where you would be advised how to get yourself into financial trouble. I think much of what you consider opinion is actually pretty sound advice. Would you consider it a good idea for someone with no full time emplyment to take on a debt of £6000?0 -

Point taken completely. However my point is that opinion or advice wasn't asked for. Information was.
This happens all over the boards countless number of times. People ask a particular question (as in this case) and are then given replies that are little more than a moral judgement.
It does tend to put people off asking sometimes. I have 2 friends and 1 family member who wont ask questions on here for that very reason.Herman - MP for all!

So if someone posted on here asking what was the best way to kill themselves, would you just suggest hanging or pills. Or would you tell them it was best not to?0 -
And if that stops someone getting £6k in debt with absolutely no mechanism to get out of it, it's an MSE job well done!!0
