Objection to planning permission in my own name

My neighbour has applied for planning permission to alter her house. We all had letters a few weeks ago. The plans did not affect or bother me, so I did not write to the council.
However, I found out yesterday that someone has made an objection to the planning permission in my name, from my address.
I have explained to the neighbour that I had no objections and I thinks she believed me, and I have also written to the council saying that the letter was a fake.
I am just wondering how far the council will go to try to track down who has sent the forged letter.
I am furious as this may cause harm in our relationship. I think she believed me but you never can tell!
Has this ever happened to anyone here, or does anyone work in the council who could tell me what happens now.

The names of objectors are always made public.
You have told the council that it was not you who objected.
So the onjection will be withdrawn.
I doubt that there will be a man/woman hunt................................I have put my clock back....... Kcolc ym0 -
Can you not request a copy of the letter yourself?"One day I realised that when you are lying in your grave, it's no good saying, "I was too shy, too frightened."
Because by then you've blown your chances. That's it."0 -

I am just amazed at the nerve of some people.
I am assuming it was one of the other neighbours who did not have the decency to do this in their own name.0 -
Yeah good point, they should give it to you given that it's in your name. You could even withdraw it?0

Not trying to sound horrible, but if I was your neighbour I'm sorry but I wouldn't believe you.
My suspicious mind would be telling me that it was you who lodged the objection and then when you realised that your name and letter were recorded for all to see you changed your mind. I don't know where you go from here with your neighbour? I guess finding the true author of the letter would be a start. But it all depends on what sort of relationship you have.
If the letter is alledgedly from you, then certainly get them to remove it from the internet and from the objections. And insist that they provide you with a copy of the letter.
The thing is, that if the objector had reasonable cause for objection, then why not do it under their own name? Do you think perhaps they did it deliberately to hurt the relationship between you and your neighbour? (Told you I was suspicious!). What was the objection lodged?"One day I realised that when you are lying in your grave, it's no good saying, "I was too shy, too frightened."

Can you put up a link to the planning application?...............................I have put my clock back....... Kcolc ym0

If its you're letter than surely the data protection act would allow you to see it?0

If the OP writes to the council stating that it wasn't them and that they have no objections to the application then that will also log on the website. If it's a posted letter they will scan it in so you can physically see.
The neighbour then has two options - to decide that either the OP is telling the truth or is a total nutter writing conflicting messages. Depending on previous behaviour the neighbour will decide
People say the strangest things but pretending to be the next door neighbour is just lunacy!
We have neighbours at our barn who constantly complain to planning about us - we've done nothing externally except turn a flat roof (of a relatively modest sized and existing single storey extension) into a pitched one with planning permission. We got 18 letters of objection from all over the place - different counties even! Someone properly rallied the troops - I wonder who!
In their initial objection to our planning application they suggested that we retarmac the entire street as a form of compensation!
Someone else suggested that if we wanted a bigger house we should have bought a bigger house.
And someone else suggested that the new drive was a road safety hazard at a dangerous 90 degree angle to the road (a private drive of four houses)
I doubt the council will do anything with regard to tracking down the ghost writer - they will probably just regard the concerns as coming from somewhere other than next door and take them with a pinch of salt.
I can't get over that, honestly! What cowardice.Everything that is supposed to be in heaven is already here on earth.

Sorry, but that is so funny. Not for you of course - it's stressful and inconvenient.
It is quite funny I guess what some people will resort to when they feel that they can't get their own way."One day I realised that when you are lying in your grave, it's no good saying, "I was too shy, too frightened."

OP, i think you should report the matter to the police & let them sort it out. this sounds like fraud, even if it isn't technically fraud. i'm not a lawyer.0
