Hi Mike22 We're estimating what the percent change in inflation will be from March08 to March09.0
-
CPI: 1.3%
RPI: -0.4%
EDIT: decided my initial estimate of 0.8% for CPI was too low. The above is still 'sticking my neck out' compared to others' estimates.0 -
Does anybody know how a negative RPI would affect student loan repayments? RPI is the basis for interest on these loans....:beer:0

I think i have some ns and i rpi linked stuff which is probably useless..TREVORCOLMAN wrote: »Unfortunately you are paying for those who live on the "never never"
If you are talking about Index Linked Savings Certs. for example you'll still be getting the % interest + a fixed 0 of RPI (it can never drop below zero even when RPI does).
So for example if you took out an Index Linked Savings Cert last year at 1.35% + RPI, then if RPI falls to -1% this week, you'll still be getting 1.35% on the certificate.0 -
Radio 4's Moneybox had an article on all the RPI linked products (benefits, pensions, NSI Certificates) and Student Loans was the only one they couldn't give a definite answer to. Apparently the powers-that-be will be giving an answer "at the appropriate time" (IIRC).Does anybody know how a negative RPI would affect student loan repayments? RPI is the basis for interest on these loans....0
