Any help, opinions, views I may hold those are my own. Respect them as you would expect the same in return. Offered freely, is gleaned from a lifetime of experiences, knowledge gaining. Passed on to benefit others. I may be direct, ask you questions but those are to help you. Up to you if you choose to take it. I won't judge you either way.

I understand your post on the site feedback board Numpty, but I am just disappointed it has come to that. :(

Your not the only one mate:cry:
Until MSE towers lets the BG's have the ability to delete spam on all boards, or let trusted users click a report button a message goes to all BG's about multiple spam , if 2 BG's agree and then an overide comes in and they can temporary block a user:confused:
    if thats possible
thats your realm the techie bit ;)

And I do feel sick about agreeing to the restrictions, it goes against my own feelings
    about helping newbies

Don't know, but maybe its time for me to take a break from MSE:confused:

Feeling a bit cynical, myself, today.
I am NOT, nor do I profess to be, a Qualified Debt Adviser. I have made MANY mistakes and have OFTEN been the unwitting victim of the the shamefull tactics of the Financial Industry.
If any of my experiences, or the knowledge that I have gained from those experiences, can help anyone who finds themselves in similar circumstances, then my experiences have not been in vain.

If you do that, NM - the only winners will be the 'spammers'. I read your comments on the feedback board, and I think that your suggestion is a very valid one.
We've all been a bit pee'd off with 'spam' posts - I certainly have reported many to 'abuse' and am often amazed at the time it can take to remove them.
They are unwanted posts - often, and certainly on the DFW board, aimed at people who can least afford, either financially or mentally, the wares that the spammer is trying to promote. Although often reported to their host sites, these 'people' continue to bombard sites like ours, but, in all honesty, their actions, unlike those of the 'trolls' are minimal in relation to the overall throughput of this forum and are usually dealt with before they can do too much harm.
Nobody suggests that DFW could be made totally immune from spammers, whatever action is taken - it's good to know, though, that there are people like you who will take the time to report them to abuse.
So, if you were to 'take a break' it would be DFW's loss and the spammers' gain.
    Think again, please.

Numpty - don't let the spammer drive you away, the board will less of a place without you in it.

    Hi everybody.

Over the last few weeks we have had a number of "troll" attacks on the boards.

What is a Troll? A troll is a person that posts deliberately provocative, nasty or hurtful comments on threads. They may be a person with no previous connection to the board or someone that has created a pseudonym to get their point made.

If you should get a comment made on any thread you post asking for help and advice please realise this comment is not directed at you personally.
We really are all a lovely bunch here (oops, modest, sorry) so please ignore these nasty comments and continue to post here as normal.

what should i do if i get a comment made on my thread?

firstly do not respond to the comment as this invariably is what the person wants. At the bottom of the post, on the left hand side is a red "warning" triangle. Click this and then "send" the message that comes up. This will report the message to abuse who will review it's content and delete it.

The person we had this morning was particularly vile and nasty and please believe me is an extreme rarity here.
Above all PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE DO NOT LEAVE THE BOARDS. THIS SITE IS AN ASSET TO SO MANY, ESPECIALLY WHEN IT FEELS THE WORLD IS FALLING IN ON YOU. THERE IS SUCH A WEALTH OF ADVICE HERE TO BE HAD THAT THE COMMENTS OF ONE MUST NOT DETER YOU FROM AVAILING YOURSELF OF THE KNOWLEDGE HERE!!!!

It is testament to the work that martin has done and continues to do that so many people give their time knowledge and experience freely to others, without judgement, to lift people out of the depths of debt crisis

PLEASE DO NOT LET THE ACTIONS OF THE MINORITY RUIN THAT.

    Kind wishes
    P
