Was it really a joke Clio - I wasn't joking about chorizio sausages:eek:

rog - try shopping in your local market, food will probably be cheaper there and have a go at growing your own too.

Waitrose Clio? You must be earning more money than jove if you can afford to shop there:eek: Mind I do have £10 of John Lewis vouchers that I have yet to spend so maybe a trip to Waitrose is in order.

    * feels relieved at not being only supermarket snob on the thread* :o;) In my defence tesco is as cheap as it gets this way nearest lidl 15 miles away & that's just a waste of fuel

I'm currently 'slumming it' in tesco well that's what cashier said when he saw my waitrose carrier bags :rotfl:

Eeeeugh to chorizo :( I love that stuff, are you sure that' what it's made of ?

Thanks H - we don't really have much of a market, here. I was not being over-serious - we are very happy with the value at Lidl and Aldi - we do the 'bulk' of our shopping at ASDA (where I get my staff discount) and tend to 'top up' at Lidl and Aldi - especially on the 'continental' products, as my wife is Italian.
We had started sneaking into the M&S Just Food shop that has been in our town for the last two years, but it has been a victim of their cost-cutting excercise and ceased trading last Thursday - so that should save a few bob.

We do grow many of our own veg - we also have three 'rescue' hens who pay us 2 - 3 free range eggs a day for their keep.

I use my local Tesco seeing as a Metro store has opened up in the village but I will occasionally pop into the co-op and buy meat from butcher and veg from either greengrocer (I also get eggs from one because they are only 59p for half a dozen:j ). I also go to Lidl but that is further away - about 5 miles as opposed to driving 2 miles.

Lula - I wasnt joking abour chorizios but does it really matter what they are made of if you like them?

I remember my mum's 'divi number' - we had a Co-op at the end of the road, when we were children, and we had to quote the number every time she sent us to get something. The 'divi' used to pay for our school shoes - for which we had to go to the big Co-op in the city centre. Sadly the big Co-op is no longer there, but the local one is - I often pass by when I'm out delivering - brings back a few memories.
