  • I look forward to finding that particular word!

I am an avid Countdown viewer (and even solve problems that Carol or Rachel didn't/don't!), and I often beat the contestants (the ones that don't make Octochamp!!). I shall look forward to this.

Does anyone else remember a trick they played on Richard one time - when Diarrhea (I think!!) actually came up on the board and neither of the "contestants" actually got the word? Wish I could see that one again!

It would have to be a rude word that many kids wouldn't know, so he could "make up" a definition...

    fell atio?

Taking the clue that it's the longest word could it be erection? Although has many other definitions??!!

  • I wonder if we will actually see this on screen? I understood that words regarded as too rude for the afternoon slot were edited out by recording a "dummy" round, where contestants were given predetermined letters and told to produce specific words (with the same number of letters as they scored in the actual round, so that the scores work correctly). However, presumably ML would have known about this if it had happened.

How is that pronounced? I've never worked out how to get my tongue round that word.

I also interpreted the clue in that way and also ruled out erection cos it has other, more innocent meanings!

The only similar word I can think of is 'stiffies', but surely that's not in the dictionary! ;)

When 'orgasmed' came up there was a bit of a furore and audience noise and they stopped filming for about 5 mins to see if they could come up with an alternative 8-letter word for me to use, and to decide if it was a word they could broadcast.
In the end they went with it, after briefing me (and Carol, and Richard) on how to announce it and they re-filmed the last couple seconds of the round and the bit where I announced my word.

Considering what is allowed to be broadcast a couple of hours earlier on "Loose Women" ...

I'm a bit concerned that someone in the Countdown dictionary corner has had a seemless experience- I would prefer mine to be seamless.
