Direct ISA Issue 5 from A&L

Hi.

I am thinking of opening an Direct ISA Issue 5 with Alliance & Leicester.
the rate at the moment is up to 3% variable, if you invest more than £9000
is this a good rate at the moment?
any advice please.

  • you could get 3% fixed with halifax only 4 withdrawels allowed
Barclays 3.61% Online, inc 1% bonus
Rate: 3.61% variable AER, inc 1% bonus. Min. Deposit: £1.
Allows transfers from previous years' ISAs?: No Access: Online/Phone/Branch

    Natwest & RBS 3.51%
Neither of the Cash Plus ISAs allow you to transfer money in from previous years, though a seperate Natwest offering does. The e-ISA accepts transfers, and pays 3.51% AER if you've got over £10k in it, or 3.25% AER if you've less than this.
Rate: 3.51% variable AER. Min. Deposit: £1. Allows transfers from previous years' ISAs: Cash Plus: No. e-ISA: Yes Access: Cash Plus: Online/Phone/Post/Branch. e-ISA: Online.

    Thank you Littlemrtinkle
But I thought the Barclays gold ISA would not allow you to transfer in?
Is the Halifax the best deal at the moment then?

  • you are correct it doesn't , the halifax does allow transfers in.

I moved my ybs to halifax for the 3% fixed for one year.

a transfer can take a max of 60 days to complete, you fill out an isa transfer form.
