My Grandfather died, what would you do with £725,000?
Invest in property or put it in the bank or something else?

The best bet is to divide your capital into different investments.
One chunk (e.g. 150k) could be out for safety into saving accounts, one other for a nice property (e.g. 400k) and the rest in funds for longer terms prospects.0 -
I'd donate it to a worthy cause like the WWF or a childrens charity, your young enough to work and support yourself, give it to those more needyPanda xx

I'm told that the really rich take less risks with their investments than the likes of me.
But why not take some medium sized risks with the investment and use some of the accumulated gains to contribute to charity (especially beneficial as a 40% taxpayer).
With that sort of wealth the important thing is to diversify.
Cash accounts
Commercial property
Residential property
Overseas funds
UK shares
Gilts
Indexed linked gilts
Are some of the main asset classes you can use. There might be others, depending on your own interests and tastes, like antiques or Persian carpets that can also give day to day pleasure.0 -

Very sorry to hear about your Grandfather cymro.
May I ask if your investment question is a real or hypothetical question?0 -
It's a real question0

Obviously it is a real question. I should have expressed myself more clearly. Do you actually have £725,000 to invest?
I ask because I would not wish to waste my time checking and making suggestions if it is only a hypothetical question.0
