What disks did you get with your laptop?
It may be a restore disk and how did you wipe it?0 -
We have various utility disks but the original operating system one is gone.
The laptop was wiped from dos using format command.
It tries to boot from the CD drive but need operating system disk to go further.MTC NMP Membership #62 - made it back to size 12 after my children & I'm staying here!0 -

Using Linux as a stopgap measure is a good idea; many distributions will do almost anything that Windows can.ollyshaw wrote:I will send you a ubuntu cd if you want

Thanks so much for the offer of the CD. We have not used Linux but happy to give it a go. Would just need to know...
how would it interact with Windows XP on a wireless network? If we get laptop working we are hoping to set up wireless network running this PC on Windows & laptop with whatever. Happy to pay postage, let me know how to give you our details and how to send you postage. Cheers again.
Bringing the laptop back to life has become urgent as we are now fighting over our PC since I found MSE!!!MTC NMP Membership #62 - made it back to size 12 after my children & I'm staying here!0 -
