Just for Fun!

I was recalling with a friend today a viewing of a property a couple of years back where the chap had met us at the house late (we were waiting for him and he obviously didn't mean to be that late - I hope). The house was an absolute tip, there was washing up all over the kitchen, rudey magazines in the living room and to top it off his underpants were trailed up the stairs!

I was just wondering what the worst thing anyone has ever seen / heard on a viewing out of pure interest and perhaps a giggle!

Someone posted up a rightmove link here ages and ages ago which had a bedroom full of dirty knickers and such like. We dissected the entire place with everyone pointing out what they could see and speculating on the people that lived there.

The house with the grim reaper in the living room was funny until one MSEr decided to phone the EA to ask what they were thinking of trying to sell a house like that. They took the picture links down before I could pm my mates that weren't online, spoilsports.

  • Does anyone still have the rightmove link? Would love to see it (does that make me weird wanting to see someones dirty knickers!!!!)

Viewed a flat in North London a few years ago with my ds who moved their after graduating from university to work and was looking to buy.

When the door opened the 'smell' hit you. We each took a deep breath, held it and entered. It smelt of rotting fish.

Buy the time we needed to breath again we were back outside. The smell was so awful we couldn't get out fast enough.

Once back in the car we went to the nearest shop for something to drink .... don't know what we thought a can of coke each would do but after being in that flat it was so refreshing.

Can't believe someone would expect to sell a property with a pong like that.

I really hope that after that amount of time even that house would have sold. It must have been two years ago.

Shame though. It was funny. As was the flat in a converted church where either the developer or the window supplier had a great sense of humour as the flat had the top part of the original windows. It was three windows, arched with the middle one much longer than the other two. The windows inside the arch had been rounded and it looked like well, erm, meat and two veg :rotfl:

Cat poo on the floor of the bathroom. In the house next door but one when it sold two years ago. All the neighbours had a good giggle as we passed the URL round.

You get a lot of grimness where couples splitting and one does want to stay in the house, but the other has the legal right to force a sale... that is if anyone makes an offer.... so the occupant may be trying very hard to put you off....

Not buying, but clearing a house of mine after tenants. Used condoms under the bed congealed, and soiled underpants which had maggots crawling on them!!!

Black mould all over the walls so thick you could have scraped it off with a knife and spread it on toast.
It's not easy having a good time. Even smiling makes my face ache.
