            Thanks again Fire Fox.
Basically what was wondering was that my mum is making payments (in my name I assume).
If I was to write a letter to the company involved advising them of the situation, also enclosing a signed letter from my mum admitting to it and advising that she is already making payments and i request that police are not involved - would it work out though.
Really, when it comes down to it, the way I see it my mum and also the company are in the wrong. Mum as she has done this fraudulently and the company as they've been pretty irresponsible.
Maybe it's just wishful thinking though.0

The companies will want to get the police involved. We had this quite a bit at my old company (I say my old company, i mean a company I worked for lol)
My advice is to send the SAR and then take it from there. Don't be too worried if you get nothing straight back, They have 40 days to respond and they almost always leave it to the last minute.

Thanks again for all your help and advice.
I've drafted a letter based on the SAR letter, but due to the fact that I have no knowledge of the account/debt, I can't provide them with any account numbers. I've reworded the start of the letter and given them the details of the debt from the credit report - as follow:
 Dear Sir/Madam
 Account number: Unknown
On checking my credit report with Experian, it has come to my attention that debts are recorded against my name with your company that I have no connection with.

 Company Name:
 Account Type:
 Started:
 Default Balance: £
 Current Balance: £
 Defaulted On:

Please send me the information which I am entitled to under section 7(1) of the Data Protection Act 1998 in relation to detailed occurrences relating to the the above debt recorded against my name. I apologise, due to the fact that I have no knowledge of this account/debt, I am unable to provide you with any account Numbers to assist you in identifying the account.
Does that sound ok? I've left the rest of the letter as the SAR letter.

            Hi,
I sent the SAR letters on 15th April 2009 and have as yet not received any replies.
I stated in the letters that they had 40 days in which to comply with my requests, it's now been around 60 days.
What should I do now, should I go to the Financial Ombudsman regarding this?
 Any advice greatfully received.
 Thanks0
