  • EssexHebridean - Thanks for your post. I agree it was a very stupid thing to do, regarding the t-shirt shenanigan. In fact, so far this year I have done some very stupid things that Im ashamed of. But...mistakes are there to be learned from and that is what I intend to do :)

epsilondraconis - That bingo thing sounds like a good idea. The way you have described it sounds like you cant lose?? May have to check that out. Do you have to do other scratchcards to make it look as though you havent just signed up for the freebies??

Well... today I've been at work this morning, 8 till 12. It was fairly steady, and as I said in my last reply it means I will have some extra pennies in my next wage!! yay!! Since I've been home from work I've not done a great deal to be honest. Made myself some lunch (got some free range eggs from a relative for free!!) So a small bit of money saving there :D

Really bored though and it's only 2:15pm!! meh. Might have a shower to save my parents money on their water bill...

So far I've not spent a penny of my wage and I dont think I will at all this week, seen as though I'm going to stay in tonight. However I may have to get 4 cans at some point for this evening...wonder if there's anything decent on tele???

Aha! I might have a walk to the shop after I have showered, its something to do!! I bet theres people who would love to lead such a simple life as myself and here's me moaning about being bored (apologies to those who are rushed off their feet).

Leeds are playing at 3:00pm so I'll listen to that on the radio. It's just a case of trying to fill the weekends up, because they are so long and empty just sat about the house.

Ahem...I hope all you moneysavers are having a decent weekend, thanks for reading ;)

  • Just been down the co op and bought 4 cans of carlsberg for £3.99. Beats spending £40/50 for a night out on the tiles!! Plus I'll wake up hangover free and further out of my overdraft  It's a win win situation!!!

Hells Kitchen is on tonight aswell so that's something decent to watch tonight :)

Oh yea and Leeds won today, added bonus!!

It's a good feeling knowing that my mates will be all out in the pub getting wasted when I'm clearly going to be the one who is best off in the morning, in all ways :T

  • epsilondraconis - That bingo thing sounds like a good idea. The way you have described it sounds like you cant lose??

I'll be honest with you, I wouldn't do it if any of my own money was at risk. Also, I genuinely wouldn't post this if there was a risk. You may have read about match-betting where you can make money; however you can also make mistakes with that which will cost you financially. I'm not into anything where I can lose my own money.

Do you have to do other scratchcards to make it look as though you havent just signed up for the freebies??

I'm not absolutely sure. I don't know if St Minver et al have some software that scans the accounts to see which do only the scratch card. The other scratch cards and slot games that are on the site range from 10p up to £20 or so. Each week, I may spend 10p - 50p on other scratch cards or slots depending on how much I have made from the free scratch cards. Some weeks I would spend only 10p from the money I have made. Again it partly depends on what sort of mood I am in. Last week I won £20 after spending 60p on one of the slot games.

The thing I always remember is that these games are designed so you lose more than you win. You will hear stories of people winning money from on-line casinos etc; however they don't say how much they have lost in the past.

I always think of this as a bit of fun and primarily a way of making a little extra money on the side. I know I will never get rich from it.

I have to say, the thing that most concerns me about your post from 2.21pm today is that it appears you are a Leeds supporter. Dirty Leeds. :p

I'm not a Man Utd supporter; however what a result from this evenings kick-off. 2-0 down at half time and then they go on to win 5-2. Does that seal the title?

Well done MoneyWaster2007 for getting your cans and having an evening in. Remember to head out with your mates every couple of weeks or so, just so you don't feel too isolated. The attraction of saving money may start to grind you down otherwise. I guess its a case of stricking the right balance.
  • epsilondraconis - I think i'm going to give the bingo thing a miss. It sounds like a good thing to do, but I'm not a gambler. I like to make money by working (I'm not saying you are wrong to play bingo scratchcards, I'm simply saying I would prefer not to). But thank you for taking the time to explain it to me :)
P.S. I don't think Man U have won the title officially yet, but they may as well have. They are top of the Premier League with a game in hand. (hate man u, but hey).

Well....today has been pretty much the same as yesterday! Got up fairly early this morning, had a walk down the lakes to see if any of my mates were fishing (no one was). But it was just nice to get out of the house and really nice scenery down there. Haven't spent a penny today. In fact, all I will have spent of my wage come Friday is the £3.99 I spent on the cans yesterday!!

Bank holiday is looming....and it's going to be bloody expensive!!! I'm going out on Friday night for my birthday, which is going to cost between £50-70!! Then I have been told there is a barbeque on Saturday night, which may end in another night out on the town. So my kidneys are going to take a bit of a battering, as is my wage. However I will get slightly more on Friday because I worked overtime this week :D

Plus I'm getting £100 from my parents for my birthday (hoping to pay this straight off my overdraft- they did say I can do what I want with it...) I should be getting quite near to being out of my overdraft after that. And my aunties and uncles usually slip me a note in a card!! I'm lucky ;)

Well, work tomorrow boo hoo, best get my packed lunch made (nice bit of moneysaving there:cool:)

  • Sounds like you're making great progress MoneyWaster2007.

That's fine about giving the free scratch cards a miss. I earn a good salary; however I like the thought of free money. I just thought I'd let you know about it just in case you got bored and wanted to fill 5 minutes a day.

Yes, the bank holiday will soon be upon us. Sounds like you'll be out on the town which should be a good laugh. Its great how the men always take charge of a barbecue; however you wouldn't normally find me near our kitchen.

I noted in your last post that you haven't spent a penny today. You must be bursting! Sorry, couldn't resist.

    Keep the updates coming...

  • MoneyWaster2007, do you go fishing at all? You mention in a previous post about your friends fishing in the lake near you. I used to fish years ago. I used to get up at the crack of dawn with a work friend of my Dad's and we used to head off down to the river / lake to see what we can catch. It was great sitting on the bank on a nice day. Nature was all around you and it was so peaceful. Sometime I didn't mind if I didn't catch anything - it was just great to be there.

My main past-time now is golf - in fact I sold all of my fishing stuff about 5 years ago. I was sorry to see it go because it was associated with so many nice memories; however I wasn't likely to use it again. A young lad came around with his Dad to look at it. I could have asked for a lot more money; however the kid kind of reminded me of how I was as a youngster and so I practically gave it away. Hopefully he'll have as much fun as I did.

Anway, enough of this reminiscing; I have some work to get done.
  • I've been given £100 by my parents for my birthday...and my first thought is to get a new top to go out on Friday night. But I could wear a top that I already have and use the hundred quid to pay off a chunk of my overdraft. Hmmmm......decisions.....any suggestions??

epsilondraconis - I used to go fishing a couple of years back but never got into it. Don't get me wrong I loved spending time down the lakes on a nice sunny day, but I just never had the patience to fully master it. When I went down there yesterday it brought back some memories...I found a spot behind some trees that is secluded and no one knows your there. It was bliss looking out over the water seeing the birds nose diving for fish and knats flying around, a real sense of summer. Ahhhhh.. it would make a good place to think about things when things get on top of me :)

  • Split it - New top and a slightly smaller chunk of overdraft - Win/win
