  • Just been paid £330.43 into my account. I have no idea why.....pay day isn't until tomorrow, plus I don't earn anywhere near that much per week....

Anyway I'm not complaining!! It was a Chaps payment, I thought maybe it's a tax refund, but it can't be because I got one of those just before I started this job...or can it??

  • Hi MoneyWaster2007, I hope you're keeping well.

You're never going to believe this. I was paying £330.43 to someone via CHAPS and I've just realised I've entered the wrong account details. Clearly that money is mine. Can you send it back?

    Only kidding.

Does the entry in your bank account not give you any details as to the source of the money. If it doesn't, it may be worth contacting the bank to see if they can shed some light on it.

It's worth remembering that if the money has been paid to your account in error, then you're not legally entitled to keep it. May be worth checking it out first.

Roll on the bank holiday weekend!
  • Hey, it's my birthday today woo hoo, 25 years young! Overdraft is paid off, which is very timely! Having a family barby today but weather aint looking too good!

My dad is going to insure me on his car tomoro now I'm 25 as the insurance will be lower. It just gets better! No more pedalling my rickety old bike to work (or at least not every day any way).

Next Friday is when I'm going to start overpaying on my loan again, so should see that coming down much more quickly now...

    ...tis a good day!!

Have the urge to go away for the weekend with my girlies, shop, pamper and party. Would be very strange spending a whole weekend without my son though. Plus I might get to pick a theme night where I work so it'll be like the whole club is celebrating my b'day which would be pretty amazing, even if it is only a crappy lil club. I just want an excuse to dress up really!!

Did you have a good b'day?

    xXx
  • Last Friday (payday) I had £100 surplus wage in my hand. I thought, hmmmmmm, what shall I do with this... Decided to put the lot into my loan with the idea of staying in all weekend, considering I've done it before. Anyway, boredom got the better of me and I ended up going out on Saturday night. This meant going £44 into my overdraft. Ouch!! I think the moral of the story here is...don't thow any money into the loan until it gets to the day before my next wage, that way I can be certain that I wont need the money for anything else...I could kick myself!!! how stupid of me!!
o well, these things happen from time to time. To compensate, I have put a watch on eBay in the hope that it will retrieve the £44, or at least partially retrieve it. But damn it, I was doing so well!! Grrrrr....

  • Hi all! My total debt is now....wait for it.... £3,053.30!!! Woo hoo, its coming down slowly but surely. I've made a little table on the computer, showing dates, balance etc. and stuck it on my bedroom door next to my bed for motivation. (getting a bit of a sad act) lol.

My strategy now is not to set a specific target of how much to pay off each week, but to just make sure that I never overspend my weekly wage, and whatever I have left over the day before my next paycheque arrives, I put into my loan. Less stressful that way. On Friday I overpaid by £84!!! If I can keep this up I should start to see real changes soon.

It's just seeming to take forever, I've seen a really nice Golf Gti Mark 2, in black. It's only £900. I could easily save that up in no time.....but not until my debt is repaid, what a drag it is!!! Oooooh the foolishness of youth. If only I knew then what I know now. Hindsight is a wonderful thing!!!

Anyway, I'm still in a job, been there 3 months now and they are stacked out with work, so Ive been really lucky in that respect- see earlier part of thread

Anyways, my plan is to have it repaid inside a year, then get a Golf, then rent a flat, that will make me 26, so not too bad, theres lots of people in a far worse position than me!! So the future is bright, but getting there is shiiiiite!!! But I think Im headed in the right direction, just gotta keep me head down and keep cracking on ;)

  • Hi all, just a quick post. I'm starting to get really peed off with repaying my debt. It seems never ending. I've got it down to £2,949.76, from £10,000, but it just seems to be draggin on forever!! Can anyone give me a bag of motivation? because I'm starting to lose patience with it all.....grrrr.
