Hi all, well it's day 5 and still going well-ish:D I haven't spent any money so far, had several coffees, fish and veg, fruit tea, yoghurt, will have a ham salad later.
On the debt free front, I have not spent anything, have had store cupboard meals, paid £20 in coins in to bank which I meant to do yesterday, had my savings book updated, got some overtime, read papers online, checked pigsback/quidco, put coins in piggy, £2 coin in pot and had some Sainsbury's vouchers through the post.
Was very tempted to pop to M&S to investigate chocolate limes but managed to stop myself, will make sure I get some the second the 3 months are over:D Also wanted some potatoes as I wanted jacket potato and cheese for lunch but reminded myself of the self imposed rule of one supermarket trip per week and anything forgotten can wait till the next week, will probably do a shop at the weekend so will have to wait till then.
It feels very strange to not spend any money. Keep having to fight the urge to spend on rubbish for no reason. Not spending anything is making me feel anxiousI am used to getting £50-£100 out and having nothing to show for it a few days later. I am learning the difference between want and need. It is very odd indeed to be depriving myself of chocolate and crisps when I am out because I don't need them and I have some at home. Money usually just trickles through my fingers like water and I don't like this wierd anxious feeling of having more left than I usually do. It feels like I have forgotten something.

Unfortunately so... only another three years until freedom
In the meantime, just got my loan assessment through: living on 4,800 for a year (inc. rent) in London, with (if it's anything like this year has been) basically 0 chances of permanent employment is going to call for some *very* MSE ways
It would be fine if i were still 18 or 19 and could put up with it all...
Are you still at Uni also?0 -
Hi sarah,
well done on everything today :A
dont worry about the anxious feeling, I'm sure its a perfectly normal reaction to breaking a habit. It will pass in time & it may help to find things to keep you occupied .
I went to the allotment this morning for a couple of hours, have eaten, cereal, a snadwich, apple, bowl of ham salad & might need another bowl of cereal as a snack later .
It's been another NSD & although I have to pay DDs Brownie subs that will come out of the funds I save for weekly so doesnt count
Still have some work to do so best get on with it ....0 -
A question, do payments a day not count in the NSD? I mean is it alright to make a payment a day and still class it as a NSD?TOTAL AT START £13606.90 27/03/2018

Hi everybody
I hope everybody has had a good day. I feel a bit blue today. Think there may be a hint of (shut your ears, boys) PMT around. Just feeling fed up with being single and never having any money. It feels like everybody else around me is getting on with their lives, having fun and managing to achieve their goals, whereas I don't seem to be able to do both. I can either have fun or save, but I can't afford to do both and neither on their own make me happy. It'd be so much easier if there were a Mr Gwen80. I've actually got a date on Saturday and he seems nice, but even if it goes well I'm sure I'll manage to sabotage it. After all, why would he want to be with me? Sorry, just needed to get that off my chest. I think I'm going to call my best friend, have a nap and watch Desperate Housewives and eat some Galaxy Minstrels. I'm sure it is mainly PMT, I just find it hard to see the bright side at this time of the month. Tomorrow will be better (hopefully!).

I think you make your own rules on NSD's - and a PAD wouldn't count as far as I'm aware as you are clearing your debts which is the point of NSD??? Some people don't count regular budgeted payments as spending. Eg. Say your rent comes out of your account on 1st of month but you don't spend anything else (no sneaky choc stops at corner shop or crazed ebaying) then you can still count it as a NSD? Does that make sense?
Gwen - I know how you feel. But try and stick with it and remember this isn't your life forever, you will clear your debts and get some savings and will manage to have that perfect balance of income and outgoings! IT WILL HAPPEN (for all of us!!).
I've just got the newest Elle mag in post and there is an article in there all about willpower and dieting. I have only skimmed it but it appears there is a willpower type coach. I will read properly and report back. It seems there is a book too. Maybe my library will have it?!!I've got my own flat :j:j
Now I have to pay the bills
And feed my interiors addiction0 -
Back again
Sympathy to Gwen - will also being watching Desperate Houswives, it is the only progaramme that I absolutely adhere to watching
As to NSDs Downnotout : I dont count rent, usual bills, direct debits, debt repayments or anything that has been budgeted/saved for BUT I do count grocery shopping, fuel & anything else unaccounted for in my usual budget. I therefore tend to swing wildly between No Spend Days & Very Spend Days; it makes sense to fill car up on the same day I do my grocery shopping, particularly as I am olbiged to both at the dreaded Tatco whilst in debt- looking forward to my weekly Waitrose reunion
;)
Have just been naughty with the diet - DD came home from Brownies bearing a marshmallow kebab rolled in chocolate & sprinkled with 100's & 1000s :heartpuls Hell Yeh it's worth £25 a term just for that :rotfl:0 -

Thanks makeup. I know, I'm just having a bad day. I'll be fine tomorrow, but I have decided that I'm not moping anymore. Enough. I'm going to find something productive to do or failing that I'm going to watch Jonathan Ross again on iPlayer and drool over Hugh Jackman. How hot is that man???
I definitely wouldn't count payments as a 'spend'. A 'spend' would be something that doesn't move you towards being debt free, whereas a payment does. It's still a NSD to me - not that I have many!
